not likely.... if you watch the online users page you'll see that most of them are playing games.... at least half are all the time.

I just know the last time we went from 20-26 it kept changing so quickly that the only way to know for sure was to check the stats.... and they are NEVER wrong ....

and Rasen even took a picture for us.... he's so nice.

Ok I'll explain what the deal is.

Well for 1, I've advertised the site a bit and plan to do a lot more within the next 24 hours.

And for 2, this is the biggest reason, I've made it so that if someone is playing a game on the board, their game page (as long as they've kept it open) will refresh every 5 minutes. So as long as someone is playing a game, it'll show them as being online. Before if someone was playing a game for more than 5 minutes, it wouldn't show them as being online but now if I was to go play a game for lets say 20 minutes, it would show me as being online that entire time.


To make up for this, I've color coordinated the online users in the online users page. So users who are in the game room or playing a game are tinted a green/blue and other users are the same. This will help to easier pick out who is playing games and who isn't.

Oh, that explains a lot. Also, I didn't notice the color thing. I'll have to look for that from now on

Anyways, here are a few other reasons why having the page refresh for the users is good:
1. Of course, shows them online if they've been playing for more than 5 minutes
2. It'll show any updates on game's page that they may take note of while they're playing their game in the pop up window
3. More ad views
4. Makes the site seem more populated (since it's showing everyone now)
5. It'll help keep sessions intact so when a user saves on a game they wont lose their save file

And now I saw 40 users online. I guess most of the people really are just here for games. Oh well, at least it makes the site look better

But it still increases the board's overall search engine rankings and there's always the possibility that some of them will post.

oh, of course, but for the average person joining (10-14).... a message board has little appeal when compared to a ton of old games.

Sure, there are some that post... we've gotten a few active members because of it... but I'd rather the people playing the games didn't spend tons of time on the message board... it wouldn't make me sad at all.

How does people just playing games improve the search engine?

Does it need people to play the games for the game to be added to the search engine or something?

The more pages a website has, and the more traffic those pages get, the higher the search engine ranking.

Plus, the more sites pointing to those pages, the higher the search engine ranking.



I agree Geeogree, I really don't want to force people who just want to play games to post but some will and some have, good and bad.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the Vizzed search engine.

I meant search engines like google, yahoo, etc. PR ranking, alexa ranking, etc.
