So, like the title says, you create your own dream team for MLB baseball, and name it off here. It should be a balance of offense and defense, should take into consideration entire careers, not just one season, or how you think they will do. And make sure they aren't playing at positions that they wouldn't play at. You can put in batting order if you want too. And just a starting pitcher will do, but others are fine as well.

Anyways, here's mine:

1. -  Mike Trout - CF
2. - Derek Jeter - SS
3. - David Ortiz -DH
4. - Miguel Cabrera - 1B (He's better at first)
5. -  Evan Longoria - 3B
6. - Ryan Braun -LF
7. - Brandon Phillips - 2B
8. -Yadier Molina - C
9. - Ichiro Suzuki - RF
Pitcher - Justin Verlander

Am I allowed to pick someone who is retired?

Rule number 1. Do not pick a Toronto Blue Jay.

bobq : If you want to do a team using anybody that has ever played baseball, then go ahead. But this is mostly just for teams you would build with current players.

patar4097 : Being that you said "Dream Baseball Team", that implies to me that anyone who's ever played the game of Baseball. So with that in mind, here is my list:

1) Rickey Henderson: LF Best Leadoff hitter ever in my opinion and was ALWAYS a threat to steal a base when on.
2) Ichiro Suzuki: RF One of the greatest contact hitters I have ever seen and had one cannon of an arm.
3) Willie Mays: CF Best all around ball player EVER. PERIOD. Could hit for average, for power and could steal a base.
4) Ken Griffey Jr. DH Although he would be my center fielder on an off day for Willie, he had one of the purest swings I have ever seen.
5) Albert Pujols: 1B When you set a record of hitting 30 HR's and 100 RBI's in each of your first 10 years in the league, your worthy of being here.
6) Ozzie Smith: SS Played for the longest time but was a superb defensive shortstop.
7) Joe Morgan: 2B Won 2 rings and an MVP. Enough said?
8) Mike Schmidt: 3B 3 MVP's and a WS ring. Need I say more?
9) Buster Posey: C Already has an MVP award and 2 WS titles under his belt and hes barely 25. Has a great arm too.
10) Randy Johnson: P Best Left-handed Pitcher ever. His slider was impossible to hit.

Now if I HAD to use current players, then for LF put Carlos Gonzalez, Mike Trout in Center Field, Troy Tulowitzki at Short, Robinson Cano at Second, Pablo Sandoval at 3B, Justin Verlander at Pitcher and David Ortiz at DH.

I'm not a huge baseball fan ever since Griffey retired but I still happen to watch a little bit. I'll create two lists though, one of past players and one of present.  My past list of players may have a few present players as well, but I'm listing them in the past because that's what I remember them for.  I'll also list them 1-9 as I would a batting order.

PAST:
1. Jackie Robinson (2B)
2. Roberto Clemente (RF)
3. Alex Rodriguez (SS)
4. Ken Griffey Jr. (CF)
5. Pete Rose (LF)
6. Andres Galaraga (1B)
7. Cal Ripken Jr. (3B)
8. Mike Piazza (C)
9. Randy Johnson (P)

PRESENT:
1. Ichiro Suzuki (RF)
2. Yasiel Puig (LF)
3. Matt Kemp (CF)
4. Miguel Cabrera (1B)
5. David Wright (3B)
6. Robinso Cano (2B)
7. Brian McCann (C)
8. Andrelton Simmons (SS)
9. Felix Hernandez (P)

My present list is a little biased as I'm a Braves and Mariners fan and wasn't sure who to chose for catcher, shortstop and pitcher.  But, even if those three aren't the best at their position you can certainly make an argument.  I picked McCann and Simmons because they are the best defensive players of their position in the league even though their bats aren't the biggest.  Hernandez doesn't have the best record in the MLB, however he does have the best ERA.  It's not his fault his team doesn't give him the run support he needs. Lol
