It did happen to me before, is it for when you have to have 10 different types of Pokémon caught when you talk to the guy to get the move flash? I caught a whole bunch of Pokémon and it didn't seem to recognize them as a new catch. I think that might be messed up, I think you should just keep catching Pokémon of different types and eventually you will get more Pokémon to get the tm. Or is it just recognizing Pokémon you have seen or owned and not adding to the pokedex? Otherwise there might be a problem, does it recognize Pokémon you own and have seen and just not have the evolved forms? I hope that your problem gets fixed

All the gen 1 151 pokemon will show up.
after that, and you completed it. All the others will be added to.
pokemon from gen 2-3 got a ??? mark on there number.
Its because the pokedex wasn't updated.
This will happen when you finished your quest of catching all 151 pokemon (150 + mew)

I hope this will make things clear now.
