But if I had to choose a real punk band, I'd choose the Clash, the Ramones, maybe the Sex Pistols.
As for pop punk I choose GD obviously, mcr, Blink-182, simple plan, good Charlotte, and all time low.
Other non punk bands I like: Sublime, Nirvana, the Beatles (I frikin love the Beatles), pink Floyd, led zeppelin and lately I've been getting into Black Sabbath a lot.

They have multiple "epics" (very long songs) such as Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness, The Mystic Prophecy of the Demonknight, and Heroes of the Waterfalls' Kingdom just to name their three best. Their most popular song that some of you may know is called Emerald Sword. Their first ten albums all depict one story with two sagas (The Emerald Sword Saga and The Dark Secret Saga) called the "Algalord Chronicles".
