Actor Matt Smith, well known as The 11th Doctor, has had BBC announce that he is stepping down as the Doctor, and his character will regenerate this Christmas.

The character had lasted 4 years, and 3 series of the show.

What do you think of his departure? What did you think of him as a Doctor? What do you expect the next Doctor to be like?

The group of past Doctors is as follows.

1. William Hartnell (1963-1966)

2. Patrick Troughton (1966-1969)

3. Jon Pertwee (1970-1974)

4. Tom Baker (1974-1981)

5. Peter Davison (1982-1984)

6. Colin Baker (1984-1986)

7. Sylvester McCoy (1987-1996)

8. Paul McGann (1996)

9. Christopher Eccleston (2005)

10. David Tennant (2005-2010)

11. Matt Smith (2010 - 2013)

Matt Smith played The Doctor really well. I'm sad to see him have to go. I honestly don't know what the next Doctor will be like. Hopefully he will be just as good but I have no clue. I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

This shocked me, because I thought a couple of months ago, he confirmed that he will play the doctor for a couple more years. I liked him as the Doctor. Obviously I liked David Tennant more, but Matt Smith brings another unique depiction of the doctor, which is something that I always look forward to when it comes to regeneration. To me, this half series was a little up and down. Some good episodes, some mediocre episodes, but none of them were really memorable except for the first and the last. But I don't think it has anything to do with Matt Smith, who is great in the part, but the writing and the pacing of the series. Personally, I hope to see him go 1 or 2 series more.

Do you think the new doctor would be the one at the end of "The Name of the Doctor"?

play4fun : That Doctor will only be around for the 50th anniversary special. I suspect that he's the Doctor that got stuck in the time war and did such unspeakable things that weren't of the Doctor's nature.
