Well, anyone who I've been hanging out with lately knows I've been blabbing non stop about this game. Well, most of you anyway. So, I found a decent price for it on eBay, and bought the GOTY. As always, waiting is the most suspensful part about this. I couldn't wait. Well, it finally arived, and first thing I did was pop it in my PS3.
I played the living hell out of it. Playing for Non-stop for about 3 or 4 days straight, I had about 25 hours on it. And, of course, I beat it. Now, for anyone who hasn't played the game, I'm not giving out spoilers. I really wouldn't want to, considering the ending is Incredible.
So, I guess I'll TRY to give it a review. Bear with me..... It may not be the best.
Story: You're a Former Outlaw, John Marston, with a troubled past. The Goverment has taken your family hostage, and to order to save them, you need to kill Bill Williamson, an Old Outlaw that ran together in a gang, WHICH John Marston was in. Now, right away, the Story Is An Instant Classic. Although, it is a bit cliched, but remember, it's just a setup. It get's much better. Considering this is a Western Type of game, you can definetely see the inspiration within it. Now, Imediatedly you find out the Main Protagonist of this game, John Marston, is an Extremely Relateable guy. Although with that being said, he's also one of the biggest bad-asses in gaming. On the way you'll meet a FANTASTIC Cast of Characters, all Voiced beautifully. Props to the voice actors!
Gameplay: Well, what can I say. The shooting mechanics are pretty damn good to say the least. But that's not it. The characters control fantastically as well. Now, I just wanna say this right now, Rock Star got the Horse controls PERFECT. That's not all though, THERE'S SO MUCH Gameplay variety's, I wouldn't even TRY to list them all. I just wanted to list the basics, as I should. And, with that being said, I really cant find a problem with any of the basic gameplay. It's all solid, and well, Fantastic. Also, just one last thing, while playing Red Dead Redemption Normal Mode, there's an auto target while shooting. I played Hardcore (it doesn't have auto-target), so I wouldn't know how it functions personally, but it seems good from what I've heard. Well, actually, there's a few more things I wanna talk about. DEAD-EYE. This is a game Mechanic where you slow down time, and target specific body parts, and then shoot them all within a matter of seconds automatically. Now, it may seem cheap, as I thought it was before I played the game, but It works AWESOMELY. It's one of my favorite features. Your screen slowly goes red as you get shot, like some other modern titles today, and that's another cool thing I saw about it. One of my gripes about the game, is that one you 100% it, it feels pretty small afterwards. But, luckily there is some other stuff to do...
THERE'S SO MUCH TO DO IN THIS GAME. So much variety. Although, it's an easy game to 100%, there's still stuff to do after you beat it. I don't even want to list anything else, as there's so much stuff. Like Hunting, Gambling, etc. ALSO, the Gambling is really damn good in this game. I played MUCH MORE Poker then I'd like to admit.
Presentation: Well, what can I say. The game is both Techincally, and Non-techincally amazing. The graphics are Fantastic, and the SIZE OF THIS WORLD. It's awesome! There's three main places, New Austin, Mexico, and West Elizabeth. Both incredibly different areas to explore, but all incredibly fun. Another thing I wanna say is, the world is Beautiful. Quite a bit of my time, I just was randomly exploring the world, enjoying the scenery. For an Open world game, it's awesome. Now, there is a few glitches there and there, Far and between though, but that's to be expected with a game this big. Luckily I ran into almost no glitches during my playthrough.
Multiplayer: Did I mention there's multiplayer? Nope. I didn't. I don't think anyways... Well, the Multiplayer is some of the best. There's your standard Death Matches, and things like that, but where it really shines is the Free Roaming mode. It's exactly as it sounds. It's all very fun. And hey, if you bought the Undead Nightmare DLC, you get a few modes on that as well.
WELL, That was it. Very Unprofessional, but hey. Just wanted to get my thoughts out. There is a Undead Nightmare DLC, which is a Zombie Red Dead Redemption type game, but I haven't played it yet. Hoping to play it later. I'll make another Unprofessional Review on that as well. Well... actually, I'll try to make THAT one more Professional. As I'll probably spend some time doing that one, as this one was done in about 15 minutes...
