Yea, today I found an interesting computer, the computer is somehow similar to mine, but the RAM memory is of 1 GB while mine is of 256 MB, the computer also have Windows 7, while mine is Windows XP Starter edition.
According to the guy selling it in the shop, the computer is original, but it is used (there are signs that it have been used),  it doesn't include the boot CD (the CD you use to format the PC), and there is no guarantee if there are hidden programs and even viruses in it.

The CPU costs R$250,00, while I have R$100,10 with me, maybe if I talked with my father, he could help me pay the rest, but I owuld like to know:

Should I take the risk and buy the computer, or should I keep using my old computer? This computer is getting on my nerves, I can't do much with it, but it still works.

The price of a REAL GOOD computer is like R$1000,00 - R$2000,00 (R$2.00 = 1$)

I know this isn't something like, "OMG how important!", but if I have a better computer, I would be able to do more for Vizzed.

Staff : Can't think of someone else better to ask this.

let me get this straight.
he is claiming a computer, with 1gb ram is new?
unless a calculator is considered high tech in brazil, I cant imagine them even making 1gb computers.
all new ones here have 4gb.
the fact that he claimed it was new and lied sjould warn you off, he clearly cant be trusted.
you dont have the back up disk so you couldnt even do a clean install and wipe the hdd.
and I dont know the value of brazilian dollars, but if your idea of a high end computer is anything like mine then your numbers indicate thats a terrible price.
why not just build your own, a monkey could do it and its much cheaper.
if you want it for games too that will do nothing for you.
oh you have the price there.
its not masively expensive, then again that pc is piece of crud.
whats youre processor like compared to its?
you could just put more ram in.

Seishiro Leonhart : Personally if you were to ask me, I would say unless your computer is so annoying to the point where you can't work on it or if you absolutely need a new computer then I would stick with your computer you have right now. However; like you said having a new computer would mean you could help out more on the site but the computer may have viruses and hidden programs so I'm not sure if I'd be willing to take that risk or not. I'd be afraid about losing your money on a computer that may or may not be faulty but; this is your choice so you can chose to buy the computer or stay with the one you have.

This is kind of like a lose/win situation because you have 2 choices: 1 - have your old computer that is annoying but no worries about failures/viruses, or 2 - buying the new computer but risking the chance that it may contain viruses and may have been a waste of your money.

Sorry if I can't be of more help.

thenumberone : Sorry if I confused you, I'll try to explain better.

My computer right now is 256 MB RAM, while the computer I found was 1 GB, the price, compared to a NEW and good computer with 4 GB and a better HD and etc, is HUGE!

The computer I found was R$250,00 (That would be... $125), and a new computer, with everything perfect in an OFFICIAL shop costs around R$1000,00 - R$2000,00 (which for you would be $500 - $1000).

Making things short:

My computer: 256 MB RAM
Computer found 1 GB RAM, but it is unknown if the computer is of good quality or not.

Did this clear things up a bit?

not really, because I wouldnt buy a pc without knowing whats in it.
you need to conpare the processors of both.
unless there is a cobsiderable difference you arent gaining much.
plus, xp uses less RAM, 1gb is about the lowest id recomend installing 7 on.
frankly id have xp on it.
and if the proccessor is pants...
basically, that pc may be no faster than youre old one.

Well I don't understand your currency (because it's not the one I use) I am going to say (that if it were the same numbers in my currency) that it is a total rip off. (Mine cost £300 and has 4GB RAM and a dual core 1.8GHz processor, and is also a laptop) You would never be able to play games on that. I have a laptop with 2GB RAM and that can't even play games - it also has a crappy single core processor. I would recommend at least 3 GB of RAM, though RAM is one of the cheapest parts to buy. The processor is more important though - No matter how fast it is, a single core processor will get you nowhere. A dual core is great for gaming smoothly with games at lower settings and should be good enough with each core running at least 1.8 GHz each. A quad core processor will keep you good with anything. Long story short, until we know the processor of the computer that the man is selling you, we can only assume its crap. Also, little tidbit: 1GB RAM will get you nowhere these days.

Seishiro Leonhart: I never knew anybody with a computer that had less then 514 MB of RAM.... My computer has 4GB of RAM so, it depends on what games you're trying to play, But I recommend you have at least 2GB of RAM, 4GB if you're trying to playing DS, GC, Wii ROM/ISOs going around 40-60 FPS.

I don't know much about computers even after building my own, silly me, but I say save the money for building your own, or if you can use what it has towards building your computer, then maybe that would be even better. Ever since I created my own computer, I can run any 3D game on vizzed with pretty much no lag.

Shogun Gamer : Because 3D is such a new and special thing? I say that Team Fortress 2 is the best test.

Matthew2321 : From experience I have found GameCube (havent tried Wii) games to only run at about 25. Performance also seems game dependant - Gauntlet Dark Legacy runs great.

Tails the Fox : Nah, it's just because a normal type computer drops plenty of frames with nearly anything 3D. I never had a gaming computer till now. Otherwise, I have tried the newest games off steam and etc and I don't even have to overclock.

Tails the Fox :
Matthew2321 :
Shogun Gamer :

New info about the computer.

When I came to the shop again, I saw the computer turned on, it seemed okay, I asked the shopkeeper which processor it used.
According to the shop keeper, the computer have Pentium D2.Ghz (I could understand it completely, just typing what I remember).
About the price of the CPU (only the CPU, it is not included the monitor, keyboard and mouse, which I don't need those), the CPU is R$250,00, it doesn't includes the format CD, but a good computer from official shops, with everything to up-date, costs R$1500,000, 6 times more expensive than the CPU, and besides, I am not looking (at least for now) to play Wii, PS3,etc games on my computer, for now I am only looking for a new computer to not have the freezing problems that regularly happens, for example, if I open Skype and use voice chat and try to use Firefox, my computer will freeze up completely, and I would be forced to force shut down the processes of the computer to make it work again, so in sometime I needed to check something really quickly, I wouldn't be able to do it, because my computer is just too weak.

Making things short, I am only interested in this computer to avoid having a total slow down computer, and be able to do the basic things, like Netplay on Vizzed, possibly don't have the Mednafen glitch (when playing a game on Mednafen the game comes completely messed up), be able to access Youtube more often, and possibly chat on Skype while talking to people on Skype, until I am able to buy a WAY better computer, which currently is literally impossible of happening, so this is the only 'better' computer I can find at the moment, what do you guys think?

Side comment: Like I always said, everyone I meet on the Internet HAVE a better computer than I, always.

Seishiro Leonhart : I say save up until you have more money. If it's single core (and from the lack of information it seems to be) then you are still going to have trouble. This computer seems far more expensive than it's worth. I would try looking on eBay.

yes, but what is yours?
open the start menu, right click computer and select properties.
it should tell you what processor it has.
unless its terrible I really think youd be better (and cheaper) buying more ram. it just clicks into place and thats it, installed.

As mentioned, the best thing you could do is make your own computer also which could go for less than what people might sell if you made the same exact model. There's plenty of tutorials on youtube to know how to make a computer from scratch and what you need to buy.

I would go with Tails the Fox's advice if you need a computer soon though.
