when people say jesus is god.. i dont get it..
does it mean that jesus is god as in he's the son of god.. or are people saying he is god.. as in he's really god

Well heres the trinity in the middle of the triangle is god. On one of the corners is the son of god. On another corner is the holy spirit. And last on the last corner is the father. God is all of them but the three on the corners are not one so God is jesus and jesus is god but jesus is not the father or the holy spirit. And here is a picture of an example.

Jesus is God, yes. God is Jesus, yes. And as Devon said, The father, the son, and the holy spirit are God himself.
But father is not the son, the son is not the holy spirit, and the holy spirit is not the father.

That explains why christians(including me because I'm a christian) use the sign of the cross whenever we want to pray and speak with god.

Jesus couldn't possibly be God because the earth and life as we know it existed way before Jesus ever existed making this false. Jesus is apart of God I guess but no way would he BE GOD. If he was GOD, then all of us are GODS because we all originate from the sun looking object called "GOD" right in the middle.

If God is Father, Sun, and Spirit, and if Jesus is God or Father is God, or Spirit is God, it makes all three of those objects GOD, making it contradicting itself.

Basically what I'm saying is, if Son is God, then the Sun is Spirit and Father as well because it is... God making it a complete contradiction. Doesn't add up right. Also why is this in the form of an upside down cross?

Father, son and holy spirit are different forms of God. They represent His characteristics. You can think of them as the Three Gods. But we, life and humans cant be called gods because we dont have the power, purity, and the heart, same to God.

And Jesus is already alive, even before the humans' existence, In the form of a spirit. Then Jesus became a human, to save us from our sins.

The problem is we can niot fully comrehend the trinity.

A priest of worthy note is walking along the beach, trying to understand the Dogma of the trinity. He comes along a little boy who is digging a hole in the sand. He asks the boy what he is doing. The boy replies "I'm going to put the ocean in this hole" The priest replies " You'll never be able to do that." The boy then says " Neither will you be able to comprehend the trinity" The boy then dissapesar, leaving the priest in bafflemnt.

We will never know till heaven.

calc_nerd: that's only because the trinity isn't biblical. How can you understand something that was made up several hundred years later by a bunch of people who were educated in greek schools that taught greek philosophy....

that's why people don't understand God... not because God is unknowable.

the bible itself teaches: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." John 17:3. Those are Jesus' words.

So then, wouldn't that be saying that Jesus is God's son? (btw, I don't believe any of this for those who didn't know)

Well I'm a Latter Day saint (That means im Mormon, please no bashing, and yes, Mormons are Christian).

We believe that Jesus is the Son of our Heavenly Father, just as we all are. Jesus is considered a God and is called such many times. He is also referred to as the messiah, jehovah, and Lord.

Together, Jesus, The Father and the Holy Spirit create a form of governing body called the God-Head. We believe that when Christ comes again that He will reign supreme as God of all the earth. 'God' is not so much a personage as it is a title. Given to the Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

The trinity is kind of hard to explain. All three parts, the Father (God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit are present at the same time several places in the Bible. Example: Matthew 3:16-17.

All three were present at creation: "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image...'" Genesis 1:26

The truth is, all three are parts of the Godhead. The best analogy I have ever heard to explain this is the egg. There are 3 parts to an egg: the yolk, the white, and the shell. All three are part of the same thing, but each is separate unto itself.

Jesus Christ is God's only begotten son and the only way to God is through Jesus Christ!!! If your belief is Christianity that is!!!

POepinto, i know you said no bashing but christians and mormons are different, mormons have added things to the Bible to make it "better", which it specifically says not to do in revelation, while christians have studied the Bible without "add-ons" for a loooong time

Its hard to explain but he is both God and his son. He even say's "I and the father are one".

It is the idea that "god" put a part of himself into Mary, causing her to give birth to jesus. jesus is supposed to be "god" on earth, and when he was crucified he rose again and ascended into "heaven" to sit by the right hand of "god." So think of "god" as a schizoid powerful space alien and it might go down better.
