i don't know if any of you have experience ocd, you probably heard of it, seen in it movies like match stick men, or heard that you wash your hands a lot.
but in all honesty your lucky if thats what your ocd is

I have been struggling with life for the past year because of ocd, makes everything in life rather difficult, makes life with my girlfriend difficult, i am only 22 but i have almost completely lost my sex drive, i am worried about everything

if you know ocd, then you know there are Obsessions and compulsions

compulsions are hand washing, double checking doors, or checking if your stove is on, touching your nose bfore you talk, or even walking by a wall and rubbing your hand along the wall, often times done without even knowing there is a reason as to why the hell am i touching th ewall.

obsessions are much worse.

for example thinkif listening to the radio and you hear a bad song, and it's in your head all day.
and now instead of all day imagine that same song for months or years.
But it's not a song people obsess about often times they are violent or sexual images that pop themselves into your heads in the forms of hallusinations.
me for example i was normal up until last august, i was reading a book about serial killers because normally i thouht they were intresting, and then i have been having thoughts to kill for a year now. and i know i will never kill, But the thoughts always pop themselves into your head.
You canm't just ignore them either, imagine talking to your friend and not noticing there is a bee hive full of a thousand angry bees that want to kill you above your head. it's not going to happen,

the thoughts often cause severe anxiety and depression.
it might sound easy but i can assure you this is the most difficult year i have ever lived.

well i'm glad to know i'm not alone, it's annoying that all media seems to think ocd is only germ phobia and nothing else. i honestly didn;t know anything before i had my episode, and now i can't think of anything else.

Don't worry you are not alone. I'm in the boat with you.
I also hate how OCD is treated like either germ phobia or in some cases (like when I was growing up) ADHD / ADD.
And yeah, I can imagine what you are going through.
Not the killing part per se, but on obsessing in general.
You know what I mean.
I read through your post, you definatly are not alone

Is there room in this boat for me?

I do have a small case of it but nothing servere (at least I hope it never gets severe).

Since mine isn't to bad, I see it as more beneficial than anything.

A few things that would classify me as being somewhat OCD:
-I just can't handle things not being perfect. When I make a website or graphics, I need things perfectly proportioned; even if it's a pixel off from being perfectly proportioned and even if no one would ever notice, I still need it to be perfect
-When I walk thru stores I have a habit of just touching things that I walk past sometimes. I'm not sure if this is just OCD or just a habit I've made of just flicking or tapping on certain things when I walk past them
-When I was in elementary school, the floor had different color tiles, I'd always be sure to only walk on certain tiles. Again, I'm not sure if I did it as a game or as an OCD thing but either way I almost always did it
-I have a habit of double checking stuff a lot
-If I start something, it's very hard for me to quit it until I finish it. If I have to, I will stay awake until I finish something that I start otherwise I may not be able to sleep knowing that I've started something and haven't finished it (this I've used to my advantage).
-When dealing with numbers, things almost have to be even or part of a certain pattern. For example, when I'm doing graphic design, I'm always setting the size of stuff (in pixels) at certain numbers. Usually it's always multiples of 8. If I had a picture of an apple, for example, I'd make it 32 x 32 but I'd never make it 33 x 33 or 31 x 31, it has to be a multiple of 8 or at very least, an even number that is easy to multiply. Same thing applies with when I'm working with Alpha, the numbers I always use for Alpha Transparencies are 75%, 66$, 50%, 33% and 25%. Sometimes I'll do multiples of 10, rarely multiples of 5 but never anything else.

But yeah, for me it's nothing serious.

david sounds like ocd to me, if you want to test it to be sure make a picture with all the wrong numbers, see what your body and mind tell you.
if you feel uncomfortable, have a high heart rate or think something bad will happen, Yay more ocd for everybody
just hope you dont get obsessive ocd, thats terrible

if not your ok, just a habbit you formed

I have an unconventional form OCD that doesn't quite affect me to the same extent as people tend to expect to be the norm, but it definitely caused problems while I was in school. I had (still have) a horrible case of perfectionism, and that, paired with my bad work-ethic, had none of my work ever making it in because I never had it done and never thought it was good enough for anyone else to see it.

I do it with job applications now, and have a hard time leaving messages to people because if I don't have the absolute right thing to say, I won't leave one, and it pretty much just screws me out of a chance. =/
