earthwarrior :
Yes, lol.  The offer to ask questions never ceased.

About your first question, you can't fool me.    I grew up being asked riddles like these and even writing them on the backs of my hands.  This was one of many that I've been asked probably around a hundred times.  I'll just say that I know the answer, and refrain from posting it here and spoiling it for anyone else.  If you're not convinced I know it, I'll send you a pm with the answer.

And no, I would not use magic to save my life, even if it was being endangered.  Due to my personal convictions, (in case others don't know... I know you know) I believe that magic is something God abhors.  I'd rather honor God, than to displease Him for selfish gain.  Our physical lives are only temporary anyways, and what awaits us in heaven is not to be feared.

earthwarrior : Most definitely!

Well, if we are talking about me hitting the 750 CP for the month in order to get a staffing position, I would say that I would most likely want to be a game reviewer. I've been doing reviews on other things, like movies, and I'm starting to do a lot more of these game reviews on this site. Maybe it would be cool if someone give me suggestions of what games to review that I've never played before.

There is another position that I've been discussing with David for a while now. The reason we've been discussing is because this position does not exist....yet. It is a semi-secret idea that we've been discussing, but you might have seen a thread about it roaming around the forums, so maybe a select few know what I am talking about. Right now, he is waiting on me to show him some samples of my work, which I have been delaying because I have been doing job interviews, but I am almost done with an example that I want to show him and depending on how well he thinks about it, we might start that project soon.

Pokefreak, that is a super, duper hard question!  There are many -passages- in the bible which I would call my favorite, but I don't know if I've ever considered a favorite -book- of the bible.  They're all so good and so fascinating, and each has something crucial in it.  My first instinct is to say Romans or Proverbs.  Romans has so many big ideas that are important for younger and older believers alike, while Proverbs is full of wonderful tidbits.  I love the wisdom offered on nearly all aspects of life, and I especially like Proverbs 31.

Then again, Matthew has my absolute favorite verse... a verse that if I was able, I would tattoo upon my own heart.  (For the record, I'm against tattoos... I'm just trying to explain how important it is to me.)

But I also LOVE the story of David. Most people know the story of David and Goliath, but there is so much more to the man's life and story, and those parts are the ones that really complete the picture.  So for that reason, I also enjoy all the books with his story (namely 1st and 2nd Samuel).

I guess those would be my favorites.  If I had to pick just one, I'd be awfully hard pressed. XD
Is this good enough?

To either/both: Why do so many different religions use the same "formula"? Like the virgin birth, Dec. 25th birthdate, the ascension, the annunciation, 12 companions, death an ressurection.. etc.

To both :
Do you think christian stereotypes are bad?
As in;
A christian hates all other religious ethnics and homosexuals.
They always go to church and so on?

What are your opinions on these stereotypes?

Singelli :

Sorry, but none of these have anything to do with religion.

1. Now be honest here - Are you competing with tRIUNE with CP? It seems that every month it alternates between you and tRIUNE getting the most CP.

2. Why don't you have your profile comments activated?

Man, I'm telling you... you guys ask some GREAT questions!

Dragoon26:  You mean all religions, right?  I'm not so certain I would say even a majority of religion hold those commonalities, but it's true that many do on some of the aspects you mentioned.  I wouldn't agree that all of those are common in religions outside of Christianity.  However, the reason some religions have stuff in common is because they come from the same foundation.  It's sort of like a family recipe.  Your great great great grandmother may have had a recipe for meatloaf that she passed down to 10 different grandchildren. Those grandchildren might have each changed some aspects of the recipe to make it more to their liking or to be more sensible in their minds.  As they passed that recipe down to their children, that recipe would become known as 'the' family recipe.  Even though there are 10 different recipes with basically the same idea, each one is unique to the set of people that adjusted it.

In my opinion, this honestly gives more credence to the gospel.  It would be kind of hard for those ten children to say that an original recipe never actually existed.  The fact that many religions have those similar aspects means that those facts passed down from generation to generation....?  Well, it'd be pretty odd if there never was an actual seed of truth to a single one of them, wouldn't you say?  Even though history is twisted and adjusted and viewed from different perspectives, a lot can be said by what's taught in common.  Somewhere, at some time, fact A really did exist... it was just adjusted throughout the years by different sets of people.  Does that make sense at all?

iN008: I'm not sure that they are 'bad' because I guess I don't really understand that question.  I -do- think there are tons of misunderstandings when it comes to Christian beliefs and how Christians ought to/ do behave.  For example, TRUE Christians don't hate homosexuals.  They hate the sin of homosexuality.  Those two ideas are very separate things.  It's kind of like .... loving chocolate mayonnaise cake (seriously, that's delicious!), but hating the ingredient mayonnaise (yuck!).  Christians should be able to love a person and just hate the sin that resides in that person.

There are many people who claim to be Christian and yet spout things like this (hatred for homosexual people).  They certainly give a bad image to Christianity as a whole, so I would definitely say those ideas are bad.  As long as people think that true Christians behave or think that way, people won't be willing to listen to the gospel message.  I mean, if someone came to me to profess their faith, and did nothing but spout hatred towards the very people they were trying to save, it'd be pretty hard to take them seriously at all.

I think in today's world, people definitely misconstrue the true Christian's intent.  For example, as much as I might tell people that I do NOT hate homosexuals, you still have the vast majority of people reading my words as only they want to, and claiming that I hate homosexuals and even saying that I've said so.  When in fact, I have never said that, because I don't hate them.

TheFadedWarrior:
You don't need to apologize
1.  No, I'm not competing with him.  haha!  I could never, ever catch up to him.  I'm sure that MOST months he will be far ahead of me.  I just think that this month, he did a lot of work which he doesn't get CP for... you know, behind the scenes kind of stuff.  I would never try to take that spot from tRIUNE, as I think he's the most fabulous member on vizzed.  I have an immense amount of respect for him, and I only do the work I do to help support him and David.  If I can take some of the load off their hands, I do so in hopes that they can be -slightly- less stressed.  I wish I could do more, as I can hardly put a dent in all that they do.  Both of them are absolutely awesome, and they deserve the support of their staff for sure!

2. That's a rather personal question that I'd rather not answer in detail here.  However, if you'd like to ask him pm, I wouldn't mind telling you.  And for those wondering, it has absolutely nothing to do with past events, so please don't spread gossip when you don't know the reasoning behind my choices.

play4fun : who do you see winning your bible trivia competition, and would you and Singelli be interested in helping me setting up an Armed Forces themed style, like you made yours, por favor?

Taking this chance to (hopefully) fix failed summons. XD

thing1 :  Errr.... 'cause that's how play4fun and globals wanted it?  LOL  I dunno. It's got a complex reason that has to do with certain events and stuff and well..... this is just what resulted as the end of all things.    It's okay.  It's fun making play4fun deal with my girly layout. Plus, play4fun is awesome.  I'm honored to share this thread with him.

I know you asked play4fun, but my money is on Surgiac.  I think that girl breathes the bible and eats it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  LOL

As for the quiz thing....... I know coming up with these questions has taken a lot of play4fun's time.  If you're going to write your own questions, I'm sure setting up an account with quizegg would be easy.  If you really want help, I can do that so that play4fun doesn't have to stress about using even more of his time.  He's got a lot of stuff on his plate.

Singelli : well, I mean not every day will be a quiz. Maybe, with globals approval, I will try to do a Summer Camp. We will see. If I feel like it, I will ask more towards the ends of the month, or beginning of next month. I was just asking for your guys help with setting it up, and keeping it rolling.

earthwarrior:  Well, yes, the note in my bio has something to do with my comments being turned off.  It has nothing to do with vizzed, per se, but something in my real life.  I believe I told you the reasoning?

Uh... yeah, that wasn't my idea.

And I'm pretty sure there are many people on this site that wouldn't be fond of it.  It would be chaos, I think, considering the known opinions of me.

Do I
want to be a global?  Well who doesn't?  It's a wonderful chance to promote vizzed and make it a better place.  However, I think such a thing wouldn't happen for a very, very long time. Even if there's a large demand for it.

I'm not going to fool myself into thinking anything like that would happen. haha!  I'm not exactly the most popular person around, which is okay.

thing1 :  Well during the summer, my free time will be immense, so hit me up if you'd like me to help.  I don't mind at all.  I love helping others.

Hey, Singelli and play4fun, I have a pretty interesting question for you!

What is your favorite thing about being a Christian? Are you more into the theology? Do you exhibit and like the gifts of the Holy Spirit? Or is the relationship of Jesus what you really love about being a member of the faith?

pray75 :  I LOVE your question. I could go on and on and on for days on this topic.  For me, however, I definitely think you hit the nail on the head with your last suggestion.  I am totally... and I mean TOTALLY in love with the personal relationship Christ offers us.  I can't tell you how many times He has comforted, provided for,or taught me.  I can't tell you how many times I have been in utter awe at the way He moves, at the things He has created, and at the sheer thought that He loves ME.  I've been in places where I struggle to love myself.  My whole life, I've had an issue with finding the worst in me, and pondering it to unhealthy levels.  The fact that God could love me despite my flaws?  That He sent HIS very own Son to die... for ME?

That will never.... ever cease to amaze me. I love God with all my heart, and I am nothing without Him.  The bible talks about how God lifts the lowly up from their dark places.  I am a living testimony of that, and I know so many other people who are also living witnesses to this fact.

Singelli :

I like your recipe comparison. However religions aren't the same with one tiny difference about them.

You speak of a "recipes with basically the same idea" but that is not the case. These recipes are very different. It's more like different people having recipes for  Pizza, a Hamburger, a Steak, a Fish, a Cake, Spaghetti, Chicken...and each were saying their recipe was great great great grandmas original. They can't all be right.

Also, religions don't get passed down, they are at conflict with each others ideals. They tell each other they are wrong logically. That would lead one to believe their was no original recipe.... but if Great granny really did have a recipe and ONE of those descendants was telling the truth.(They clearly can't all be. Not with the outcomes being so extreme). His relatives made him lose all of his credibility with their own false claims of theirs being the original making it impossible to believe him without proof... even if you really want to believe him(that part makes me sad)

You don't have to respond back. Just a reaction to your answer. And thank you!

Pokefreak219 : Silly girl. You know the answer to that first question.

It's hard to answer what is my favorite song, since I don't necessarily have a specific artist that I listen to the most. One of my favorites is probably The Call, by Regina Spektor. I also do like some old school Rascal Flatts, and some other famous song that I don't remember the names . I don't tend to like some of the current pop music that's been producing, bad lyrics, content, or melody. My favorite Christian artist songs had to be Brandon Heath's "I'm not Who I was". It changes in different phases as well, and some songs like Michael W. Smith's "Signs", some Newsboy's older songs, 4Him's "Measure of a Man," etc. There are just so many. Currently, Laura Story's "Blessings" has been quite memorable....I'm gonna say that maybe I am not meant to have a favorite song.

My favorite book in the Bible is Romans. It has wonderful truths about us as humans before salvation and after salvation. In terms of story, I am fascinated by both 1 and 2 Samuel and the Acts of the Apostles. I would want to read them again if I want to, but I am currently rereading the first 5 books of the Bible.

ender44 : That can be a pretty general question. For video games, I love to play a lot of different games for fun. I guess it's just that I don't really have the time to play competitively for certain games, not to mention the fact that playing games is a leisure time, so it isn't the most important thing in my life, but there is a gaming culture that I want to pay attention to, but I am also a competitive person. My favorite genre of games are Real Time Strategy Games (Red Alert, AoE2), platformers (Mario, Sonic, Crash), some RPGs here and there. My guilty pleasure or candy for me is those tycoon type games (Rollar Coaster Tycoon, OpenTTD, maybe Sim City, but I never really play it). And I would also throw in some shooters as well (I don't own any, but I do enjoy playing them when I have the chance)

I guess the big thing about gaming that I like is to be able to play with or against someone. That I would more likely want to play for fun. I was raised in an environment where if I didn't play games with my brother, I would try to find time to go to my cousins' place and place games with each other. (Smash Bros, Mario Kart, ah yes)

If you are talking in general, I like to play basketball for fun, I am not good at it (I play better D than Offense) but I enjoy the competitiveness of it. I do enjoy playing yard sports for fun as well (football, soccer, ULTIMATE FRISBEES , volleyball). I get REALLY into it when I am playing against someone and that competitiveness sometimes surprise people of my abilities. The only sport that I have been

One more general thing would be board games. I love to play board games with people, but that love increased when I had a former roommate who is a super nerd on board games (and I love it!) So, basically, the most fun I get from playing is any activity that I can play with a group of people. Fun is from the people that you love to be with.

Dragoon26 : If you look clearly into it, it isn't necessarily a formula. I know a lot of people use the example of Horus to make similarities with Jesus, but if you look at the primary sources about Horus, they are nowhere close to being similar, especially with the formula that you listed above. People get their facts about the Horus mythology wrong as well as the facts about Jesus. For example, we know Jesus is not born on December 25th. We just celebrate it on that day. I think Orthodox and Catholics have different Easters than Protestants as well. So it is not necessarily mean that the events happen on those days, but that the church just celebrates on those days. I had a fellow colleague who looked into the primary sources of these similarities, and they are not even correctly described.

Sometimes things seems similar, but the differences are more subtle than you think. For example, you probably think that the creation story is a copy of other creation narratives. But if you read all the other creation narratives, you notice that their description of how we were created is due to an accident or a result of a conflict among gods. But if you look at the Biblical narrative, the creation of the universe is purposeful. We were created because God WANTED to create the universe. The Bible doesn't say that we are created because God accidentally combined stuff and they became us. It said we were made "fearfully and wonderfully", that what He created was "good," that he has a plan of how we were made: "in His Image" and that we were created "out of nothing" (Ex nihilo) and not by pre-existing materials. Compare them and you will see the action AND the theology of these narratives are very different.

iN008 : Stereotypes are saying that they are generalizations that are false, and I do agree that in a certain way, they are misunderstandings. Many people think that saying that what a different religion believes is wrong is hating on them. That is not true at all. Christians believe that there is absolute truth and not relative, so if something is true, then the thing that contradicts that truth is false. And in Christianity, truth has an importance. It is the difference in following the path of God or continuing to follow your own path, which leads to your own destruction, so Christians are passionate about beliefs and truth. But they should also be passionate of love as well, as one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is love, and just as salvation is given to those that are male, female, rich, poor, slave, free, any race, nationality, and ethnicity, we are to show our unconditional love for other people as well. We can say that there are things that are false, but that doesn't mean that we don't love them. I would even argue that the fact that we believe what we believe motivates us to tell others about Christ is an indication that we love them.

As for homosexuality, note that I do know that there are so called Christians who do hate homosexuals (Ahem, Westboro, you got my number!) and I do not promote that type of behavior at all. I also know that there are also Christians who, intentionally or unintentionally, mistreat homosexuals, either directly or indirectly. I guess this issue keeps being created like it is a "SUPER" sin, when it is just as sinful as all the other sins. It shouldn't be really emphasized like it is a super sin, but it is important for people to know that the reason Christians are against homosexuality is because Christians believe it is a sin.

As for going to church all the time, I actually hope that is the image that they see Christians to be. Just as Christ loved the Church, we also love the Church, and a good church would be a great place for like-minded Christians to gather together for the purpose of praising God and to learn more about God through reading and preaching from scripture. A good church would cultivate a community of Christians in love and kindness and it is a joyful atmosphere. It can also be a place where non Christians can learn more about God and to ask questions about God as long as the church is responsible and respectful in doing so. A strong church would also be an influence in the community, helping the poor and sharing the good news, both locally and around the world. Any church who strays from that purpose would create a flock of weak, not passionate, if not false, Christians and their influences, both individual and as a community, would not be godly.

Christians love church and would want to go to a Biblical church. Christians desire to know more about God. Think about it, if someone were to say that they are a Christian (aka Christ follower), how are they wanting to be like Christ if they don't want to go to church or read their Bibles. The theologian in me also knows that if God does a work in a person's life when they are saved, part of the result of salvation is that God opens their hearts to WANT to love the things of God and want to know more about God. If someone is lukewarm, the Bible makes an indication that they probably are not even Christians (saved/born again/regenerate) in the first place.

thing1 : Well, with what I am looking at, people are definitely looking at Surgiac, Light Knight, and Singelli as the top candidates, but it's not over till it's over. So far, I am really thinking that Light Knight is taking it to the very end, assuming that he doesn't make any mistakes. Surgiac has a good shot of taking it from him...I wish there is more trash talk between them two though. Also, it's not over till it's over, depending on how the slings go as well as the final question which can also turn the tide.

As for your forum, mmmm...maybe? I don't know much about the army, at least not as well as you, so I don't know how I can help you in terms of questions. All of the questions in my contest were from me spending lots of time thinking and thinking and thinking of a unique theme or a unique question. Sometimes I would type my thoughts on google just to get my brain going and thinking about how can I test people. Most of the things that I ask are things that I know beforehand, which is why I am able to keep thinking about it within the day. Other times I would have an idea that sounded great at the time, then as I make the question, I would second guess how good it actually is and it would make me look like an idiot. Soo, I can try to help, but I can be quite limited.

Surgiac : Singelli's rooting for you.

pray75 : You know, when you think about the world in a Biblical worldview, you really think differently in a good way. I think as I grow older, I get more excited about theology. Not just the understanding about God, but through that understand applying it in Christian ethics, in ministry, in Christian education, there's just so many things that God provided to us that we can do God's work and to learn how to grow in holiness. Knowing about my God and my Savior also brings me joy not just about being with Him when I enter eternity, but also that God is working in me now in my life, and that I can depend upon Him and praise Him NOW, with my gifts, my created body, my human style, to do the things to serve Him and love others and to worship Him.

My journey in my 4+ years in a Christian college also showed me another wonderful thing about being a Christian, is that I can have fellowship with such amazing people redeemed by God. That w. And to think, in the future, when we are in God's presence, these are the same people that will know and love. I feel that that can be the same here, that Christians can network and fellowship together and to have a wonderful koinonia (fellowship)

I don't usually like to talk about conversion and joy (since it can bring a bad motive in coming to Christ), but it is true that living in Christ can find joy in your life. You'll still have struggles, obstacles in our lives in this corrupt world, but my faith and trust in Christ is truly bringing joy and peace in my life, not just because of my evil, sinful, shameful sins being washed away, not just because of my eternal life, but also that I am made new and am continually cleansed to be a better person striving to be like Christ.
