Well in my opinion killing is wrong but that seems to not stop its either kill or be killed as that old saying goes which in starting to think it is the truth we are human after all.

Welcome to post about the armed forces here, maggot!

And my country's troops don't fight in a war of any kind at the moment so I cant answer to your question, but I am part of the military reserve like everybody here so I can say... well nothing. We are all soldiers so we don't have to ask silly questions like do you support the troops or not!

I support the fact that the troops do fight for our lives even though I am against any type of war and i believe it should be avoided at all costs because its not worth seeing others or yourself killed. I didn't post this out of disrespect. I just wanted to see opinions.

I support my military right but nobody has gotten killed since WWII and everybody here almost goes through military training so to say to support the troops would say to support 80 percent of the male population and to be afraid to any of us getting killed in a war is foolish unless you are the few ones who voulenteer as a UN peacekeeper and even them will get rarely killed.

Let me put this the best I can without you or any other taking offense, What I am saying is, It is a risky job, but the risks is worth it because they are fighting for their family, their friends, and everyone else who they are fighting for. I just believe that any type of war should be avoided, even a small war, or anything. I am not putting out hate, or trying to disrespect anyone, like I said, I made the post for opinions, some people believe there shouldn't be military, and some believe their should. I support what you and the military does in every country, I support what you believe, I support what I believe. Hopefully you understand what I am saying out of respect and honor.

I'm all about our military. I'm hoping to join after I graduate college next semester, but we'll see how that goes. I'm looking at the USAF as an option, and that would be nice, especially if I'm a candidate to become an officer. However, I might get a second Bachelor's and try to join the Air Force ROTC on campus.

Yes I do support our troops/military.. all though I don't like the words Lets "kill". But when it comes down to it our military is what has kept us free and actually have the freedom that we do now.

They hardly fight for your lives when your lives aren't in danger.
Is it your country they are shooting around towns in? No.
So.. I don't support the military.

I'm torn between being against and for the military...

On one hand it's not precisely a secret that killing people is bad... Especially innocents..and that most of the time it's because countries get to greedy or crave more power..

On the other hand though.. If there was no Military there would be no deterrent to stop countries needlessly going to war with each other constantly..

I look at it this way. The military is designed to defend our country, and often times the best defense is an overwhelming offense. We can wait for people to attack us where we are, or our military can take the fight to the enemy. Is there collateral damage? Yes. Innocents die in war, and it's very tragic. I believe the United States military, as a whole, has done a pretty good job in minimizing casualties caused by our own soldiers. Our enemies, however, would sacrifice their people in an effort to keep them scared and subdued. Think about it. How many times have you heard of suicide bombers blowing themselves up in market places, killing and injuring dozens of civilians? What is that, other than cowardice?

If people like that are willing to kill their own, think about what they would do if they came over here. I have no doubt they would be merciless in their slaughter of our people. Supporting our military really means that we are supporting our own survival. Without them, what state would our countries be in?

In a world where such conflicting interests yields to violence, there must be a mean to ensure our country's future and protection from enemies. The military, without a doubt, is that mean. That's why I support them.

I support them 100%. Why? They serve their country with their lives. How can that not be respected? I'm as opposed to violence as the next guy, but let's face it: it's going to happen. Yeah, my nation could refuse to fight again, but that won't stop the other nations. The fact is anyone who serves their country deserves respect, because it is an extremely selfless act to risk one's life for their countrymen. And even if that country's leader is off the deep end and dead wrong, those soldiers aren't at fault. If they refused to follow orders, there would be no millitary in their country, and their families, friends, and nation would be destroyed, as a nation with no millitary is a vulnerable, defenseless nation, with a sign on them saying "please kill us". It's a sad fact of life, but fighting will never stop, and sticking our head in the sand and hoping it will go away, is simply wishful thinking, and can lead to nothing but the loss of our country. The millitaries of the world simply do what they must to keep their country as safe as they can. So whether or not they are fighting on our soil, they are indeed protecting me. No way around that.

I figure this; I could be the one out there, yet I'm not. I might as well, and I do support our troops. If that isn't similar to your logic then go to hell

I would only if they were defending the country (Canada, in my case). However, what the Forces are doing in Afghanistan is NOT defending Canada, so I certainly don't support them. They are wasting their life (and my money) in a foreign country

iiGrinchii : I do support our military and in fact both my grandfathers and my father all served in the military. Although things like war is wrong it is important to remember that things like wars are caused by failed politics. Although we may not agree on why wars exist and what the real reasons are that they take place, it is important to remember that those who serve are there to protect us and do their jobs. They are not the cause but in some cases unfortunately may be the only means of a solution. At least that is how I feel about it.
