Charmander is supposed to learn Ember at level 9 in Pokemon Red, and mine is now level 15 and seems to have skipped over learning the move. I'm wondering if this is some kind of glitch with the game on here or something, because it's getting rather frustrating having a fire pokemon that doesn't know a single fire move.

You guys' charmander never learned ember? o.O? mine did learn ember at lvl 7 or 9? i cant remember. But my butterfree didnt learn confusion at lvl 10 and metapod didnt learn harden at lvl 7 thought... plus, my Nindoran M didnt learn double kick at lvl 12 x.x

I think if you give them Rare candy it skips over them learning a move but I'm not positive.

Perhaps it did learn ember but you just did not notice. Rare candies raise levels, that's it. They have no other effects. Proof: Every time I used the Missing No. glitch, I copied rare candies and used them on all of my low leveled pokemon, and they still learned all of their moves (sorry Davideo7 I just enjoy proving my Pokemon knowledge). If it really bothers you, start a new game (don't save) and raise a new Charmander and see if it skips over again. If it does then your game may have a problem or at least the saved file. If it doesn't then it was probably just an error on your part. Hope this helped

Rare Candies make it so your pokemon stats is lower than a pokemon normal leveled.

Learn the correct knowledge before you start boasting about it.

They dont lower anything.
It's the Pokemon that are leveled normally that have higher stats, because of effort values.
Rare Candies also don't stop Pokemon from learning moves at the proper level, doesnt skip over learning a move.

Plus some of those things mentioned dont even happen in Pokemon Red or Blue.
Metapod will only have Harden if it was caught as a Metapod, if caught as a Caterpie it cant learn it.
That feature was introduced in Yellow. Also Butterfree learns Confusion at level 12 in the original games, it learns it at 10 in Yellow.
