Cave story is an action/adventure based game where you play as this Protagonist.
I won't spoil anything here, because even telling you the name of the character would be a spoiler.
 
but all the same, here are some screenshots of the game.

 

 

 
The game plays much like a Metroid game in that you use a gun as you primary weapon as you travel through this cave filled 2D world.
The game focuses on a plot, a deep plot that would take at least 1000 words to cover and would spoil the game for you. So, I will leave that part out. But for some reason this game is SO ADDICTIVE! I cannot begin to tell you how much you will want to play this game after you start.
 
instead of going on a lengthy explanation I will just let you play the game yourself

You will need the game AND the English translation Patch unless you speak/read Japanese well.

I love Cave Story. I had played it before Nicalis made other versions of the game, and have loved it since. I own the Wii and Steam versions of the game, the Steam one obviously being far superior, and I don't regret buying it multiple times.
