Have you ever tried to play through a Megaman game with only the Mega/X/Z Buster? Which games have you ever tried to do this (You only using the other powers if there is no other way to continue the game with only the starter weapon)?

I tired to do this on Megaman and Megaman 6.

I did that on mega man 2. It was very hard, but I got through it eventually. Well I killed all of the robots I couldn't get out of Willy's castle though. On the xbox 360 there are achievements for beating each boss with just your main weapon for mega man 9 and I think 10 too, but you can buy so many healing items and lives that it really takes the challenge out of it. I would like to hear about someone beating mega man 1 with just the main weapon. That had to be the hardest of all of the mega mans.

Yes I have done it.
With every Mega Man Game out.
There are some boss characters that this will not work on but it is possible with those boss characters exempted.
Think of it like Boot Camp for Metal Gear Solid. 8-bit to 16-bit style.

I've played through Mega Man 1 and Mega Man 6 buster only. I don't think it's possible to do it for the rest of them, especially Mega Man 2 (for obvious reasons #Orbs). I've tried Mega Man 3 buster only but I failed...miserably. I played through most of Mega Man 4 buster only (except for Wily bosses), and I played through Mega Man 5 buster only (again, except for Wily's stages and last form). As for Mega Man 7...there's no way I could beat that game buster only...it's just too hard for me.

I've tried it throughout the Megaman Zero series, but it is impossible.  The puzzles require alternate weapons to be used...

There is a way to go through most of all megaman games with only the buster cannon.
There are points of exception. Like the final Willy Fight in Megaman 2
Or even the Rush Dog Portions in Megaman 3.
The Beat Bird Puzzles are a point of exception too.

Like I said about Megaman Buster Runs being a Metal Gear trainer.
The difference being in Metal Gear you have a ton of weapons you may not want to use till just the right spots (a point that turned me off of buying the series brand new beyond part 2. I buy them used and when the internet has a ton of guides or walkthroughs).
In Megaman you have a ton of weapons you can use at your pleasure.
Going through the game with just the buster can be done through most of allot of the games but where's the fun in that?
Having a unique style that you use when playing makes a big difference.
In Megaman you can play as you want.
In Metal Gear you can only play in one way.

That is the beauty of a Megaman game.
Similar thing can be done with "Syphon Filter" (Pistols Run).
My favourite test of an "F.P.S." game too (Pistols only).
You would be amazed at how many games you can not finish with just the pistols.
Most of them are recent hits too.

This has been a fun waste of time by the Fox himself.

I can never beat through an entire megaman game only using the starter weapons because not all bosses are weak against it.

Hold up, Z Buster no saber? Well then, absolutely NOT! The busters are all simply too weak!

Right,I did that on mega man 4 and 5,in 6 I did it but I used rush jet and coil it was very difficult,and specially on 5 (talking about stage 4 in pro to man and well in 4 I used nothing new I just went to mega man zero 4 and 3 but only buster and saber,I finished all mega man series so now I will try it while working,I will go with 50k for the PlayStation item ; promising that I'm trying it on mega man x5 and mega man 9,don't worry nothing will be hard with it
