What Sonic the Hedgehog game do you think that has the best sound tracks? For me its Sonic CD, I pop the game in my car radio on a road trip, that's how much I love the music from that game. Sonic CD has some interesting music and is crisp and clean sounding. I also like the music from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 just because I have listen to those tracks for years and have a lot of nostalgia for Sonic 2.

For me it was Sonic 2. The boss music was my all time favorite for any sonic game. Really its one of my all time favorite boss music beats for any game. Really though all of the sonic games had good beats at least the ones for the Sega genesis.

I'd have to go and say Sonic 2 as well.. I just really like all the soundtracks to each level.. Even more than Sonic 3 and Knuckles.. Just due to the fact that whilst the game does have some awesome level soundtracks it has some pretty mediocre ones in my opinion as well... 

I guess if it had to be a modern game i'd just pick Sonic Generations just because of Nostalgia

I don't understand what everyone sees in Sonic 2's soundtrack it was to sharp in it's sound and was. . .Weird sounding.
 
I like Generations better because they used actual instruments and made it sound beautiful in the process.

I liked the music in Sonic Adventure 2. It was the start of the new 'style' that SEGA were going for, and with that game, it worked.

I also like the soundtrack of the first game. While the soundtrack to Sonic 2 is really good, I just find the soundtrack to the first game to be that slight bit better. I find the soundtrack to Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles to just be rather crap and more suited to Streets or Rage.

GenesisJunkie : While I have not played the Dreamcast version, I can assume they were both exactly the same, except for a few changes such as multiplayer characters. It's irrelevant since both have the same soundtrack. (as far as I know)

This question is very tricky for me to answer because in the Sonic series, no matter how bad a game is, the music is always awesome.  To tell ya the truth, I don't have a favorite piece of music from the series, but if you force me to pick and choose, then I would say "Reach for the Stars" from Sonic Colors, both the final boss music and the song
