I spent a ton of time optimizing, organizing and upgrading the Retro Game Room index page.

Faster pages
The pages should be at least 2 times faster. One of the things I did in order to achieve this was I split the 2 main game tables into 3 and converted 1 of those into an InnoDB engine type. Now that means nothing to most of you but what it does mean for all of you is that some searches are a little more strict. For example, if you search for '2' under the 'Year' option, all games with years that start with 2000 will show up (for example, 2009), before that same search would've returned any year containing a 2 (for example, 1992). There's pros and cons to this but with InnoDB, you can only do wildcards in 1 direction. The more important search options aren't affected by this, for example 'Name' and 'Advanced'.

More Organized
I removed some of the clutter and and organized the search area a little better. The sort links are now in a drop down, the search options are also in a drop down, and it no longer shows your Viz (no reason to show your Viz on the index page). Hopefully users can find their way around the RGR search a little better now. I also made it so that it lets you know that you can type in that search box to search for games (surprisingly some people didn't know this before).

More Search Options
Since I've moved all the search options into that drop down to the right of the search box, I was able to add more options. New search options include Sport Type (you can search for 'football' for example now), Hack Type ('graphic' for example), Perspective ('top-down' for example) and Advanced.

Advanced Search
This is one of the new search options. When you search for games based on 'Advanced', it'll search through every game's Description, Box Description and Featured Review. This replaces the previous 'Description' option and offers way more results than that did.

Cool, good job Davideo7. Having some advanced options will come handy when one is browsing for games.

I didn't get the chance to look at this while I was at work because I had a terrible connection.  However, now that I'm at home, I finally get to see it.  All I can say is... once again... great job David!  It looks great, and I really, really appreciate all the work you've been doing.  

I have always been a literal guy. That being said the search will be easier for me since I like to be specific. What about the Google search bar on the homepage? Is it instant search?

Wow, I just now found this. I'm glad to see it, since I was having some search issues the last time I tried it. This is a great addition to the RGR.

Daivdeo7: Well, on the main page, if you set it as your homepage, has a Google Searchbar.

mister sandman : If I don't fix the site issues than there are no games to play. Plus we can't be expected to fix every single game, we can only accomplish so much and fixing some games is out of our control.
