So I see people who have been around a little while, or are trusted, acting like they're better than others. Entire threads filled with posts about how terrible these "kids" or newbies are. How the forums are filled with spam because of them and how they don't know how to use them. etc. Hey, I respect everyone here, and I mean everyone. And most of the time we all get along great, which is awesome. I've told everyone I talk to online about this site and bragged on it and the community. Still, I feel like we sometimes get too big for our own good. I mean, come on, show the younger members and newer folks some love. We were all kids once, and we were all newbies once. I don't know about the rest of you, but I remember when I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing, or how to use the forums properly. In all fairness, the forums here work nothing like some other forums I've seen. The setup here is so much better, but it's a whole new world to most newbies. They're learning. Let's show them some grace, what do you say?

That said, I do appreciate the overall acceptance and tolerence I see for them here. I know what I just said, but that is a reference to a small percentage of what I see. Overall, we are a welcoming community. This is not meant as an attack or insult to anyone, but rather a request for us to keep up the good work, and improve where we can.

Anyone who reads this and still loves me afterward, please reply. Even if it's with "You're an idiot, and you're wrong". lol

but it is an issue that I am looking to address. It was put into the private trusted member forum for the sake of not making it too public. We are trying to change that mentality around here because even those of us who have been here for 8 years realize that it does happen.

Just kidding. Naw... I used to hate the trusted members because I had that mentality. Then, I left to do my Army training, and came back and had a whole new mentality. So I know where you are coming from.

geeogree : I am so sorry, man. I had no idea that was in there. I rarely use that forum. I really didn't mean for this to raise a stink or become an insult thread. It never even crossed my mind. *facepalm* Bright moment, eh? Wonder if I could get this moved somewhere?

I hope one day we can fix this issue. Some things the trusted people can get away with are too far away from what a newbie can get away with. A global can do something (No I am not accusing any globals) against the rules, but when a newbie does it that person is out the "door"and perma banned, and I think the ice is just too thin for them.

But I guess that is the way people think. I have been guilty of it growing up, but I hope we can see vizzed rid of this.

Well basically the trusted are higher then others based on the power level so I suggest those members or newbie power level toughen up or endure the bragging.

To be honest, this one of the few forums I have never seen any kiddie bashing or hostility to newbies. Maybe I read the wrong threads then or maybe I dont see it in myself but frankly, I am shocked. For me this has been one of the friendliest sites. Even for people who dont always agree.

Brigand : there is some still but there used to be a lot more. To be quite honest this is one of the nicer forums I've been on too. I've seen a whole lot worse than this.

Eirinn : I know how you feel it doesn't scare me because I'm not gonna stoop to there level if you do your just proving yourself as a jerk as well so I try ignoring it. You may be a trusted member but if you don't like it ignore it as well that's my advice.

I agree, it's the nicest forum I've seen. I tried to communicate that in the OP.

I have been on plenty of other forums, not nescesarly related to gaming, where you have more freedom than on Vizzed but after spending some time on them I actually love the fact the Vizzed is a much more strict climate. The fact you have to think before you post, the lack of random and nasty stuff... Its like a breath of fresh air. Not saying I would mind, but it is nice there is an envoirement without it all.

Plus having manners and being friendly. It is free and wont cost you a thing. Atleast here it wont.

Brigand : yeah, David has made a point of trying to create a place on the internet that is free from that sort of stuff. We are quite strict and refuse to put up with a lot of what is considered normal in other places.

I agree that it's nice to have that sort of place. If people want a crude forum then they can go find one at 4chan or other places like that.

People who are a**holes to newbies are total jerks. If you treat a noob like trash, how will anyone ever become a good member? I was a little bit incompetent when I first joined the board years ago, if people would have pointed out how much of a stupid "n00b" I was, I would have never done anything significant on the forum. I've been an active member for almost 3 years, have made site staff for a few months, and am now an elite.

You need to treat the new guys like any other member by instructing them and guiding them to the right path. Go easy on them, and at the same time make sure they learn from their mistakes.
