The Contribution Point system is here in its beta form. What is the Contribution Point system? Basically it's a system which awards you points for doing things for vizzed. Each "action" is worth a certain amount of points. It's going to be a measure of how much you've contributed to the site.

All current staff and former staff had something called 'Staff Points' and that was what we used to determine whether they were doing their job as a staff member. I've spent the past few days upgrading that old system to this new Contribution Point system and the Contribution Point system will be something that everyone is involved in.

The Contribution Point system will give you points for just about everything. It'll also give regular users the opportunity to add content to the site they wouldn't normally be able to add, such as game information and requests on having a thread moved that needs to be moved (those features and similar features wont be ready until later next week).

Below is a list of actions which currently award users points. The ones crossed out aren't ready yet. Also, some of these are only actions available to staff members.

Davideo7 : will having a lot of points (let's just say 1500) give you the staff position? 

awesome. Glad to see this has come out already. Obviously it's not done and some of the items need to be tested to be sure they work properly every time but it's nice to see the feature already being tested and such.

geeogree : Yeah I've only tested 75% of the items on that list so there's still some actions that are active that I haven't tested yet

I think the staff really deserve to have the head start in this Contribution Point system. Their hard work sometimes gets overlooked and some people don't realize how much work some staff members put into this site.

Davideo7 : Definitely!  One person even pm'd me once, going on a tirade about how I and other staff members never do anything for the site!  He was quite disgruntled about it, and I tried to explain how -all- current staff members only kept their positions by meeting a quota and therefore were doing work, but he didn't believe me.  This will definitely increase staff appreciation, I think.

Davideo7 : Sigh. If this would of been new a few months ago I would of had a lot of points. I assume the ones that are crossed out aren't in effect now?

earthwarrior : I really did try to get this feature out sooner but the site issues delayed me by a month.

The crossed out ones aren't in effect yet but will be in the upcoming week.

Yeah I'll have a leaderboard soon, I'll have more details on how each user got their points, and I'll have a page explaining more thoroughly what each action does.

Rented forum mods will not be able to get points.

This went live early yesterday so maybe you did somethings. Also, maybe many people rated your videos, reviews or screenshots.

This might be an idea for somewhere down the line. When you made the post exp feature, you made a section in the Memberlist page that has you see people in the order of their post exp. When there is random spare time in the future, maybe there could be a deal on the Memberlist page that lets you see the order of users for Contribution Points.

What about people who already have threads and stuff, will they get Contribution Points for  what they've previously  done before the contribution point system came out?

marcushoward : No. Only former and current staff members would get the points. It would take too much time to go through every single user and give them points. It's really easy to get them if you try hard enough.

So im guessing  graphics adder for games is only avabile for staff users right ?

Davideo7 :  I see the link on our pages.  I gotta say I LOVE the CP page.  It's clear, convenient, and well sorted.  There's a ton of information on the page, but done so in a way that it's not overwhelming.

I see that you are also still working on it, but I thought I'd mention (just in case):  The points stated for "this month" are being calculated incorrectly.  I had about ten times the amount that is being shown, so I'm wondering if a digit is not showing or it's just being calculated wrong.  I'm sorry if you knew about it already, as my intents aren't to aggravate.  I just know that you might not be aware of how points were for this past month, and so this error might not be noticeable.

Unless it's intentional?

EDIT:  Oh, I think I understand.  The points accrued before this system are in historic points, and the points for 'this month' are just those in the past few days, right? If so, sorry for that momentary confusion.  XD

Singelli : The points for "this month" isn't factoring in "historic points" from the staff points. Because of this, I don't think we'll have any staff quotas this month.

A few modifications to the CP system:

Your daily actions limit is now based on your powerlevel (to see what the limits are, go here).

There's also now a points multiplier. Basically the more CP you have, the more CP you'll earn per an action. The reason I did this is because people with higher CP are probably contributing higher quality content to the site so they deserve more CP. It's not going to be a huge multiplier though. Here's more details on that:
100+ Contribution Points = Points * 1.25
1000+ Contribution Points = Points * 1.5
10000+ Contribution Points = Points * 1.75
100000+ Contribution Points = Points * 2
