I have tried out your second solution to the 'disc authentication error'. When I get to the neighbourhood it still says that there is a disc authentication error and will not let me play the game.

We had the same error as everyone else (ie Disc Authorisation Failure) on MacOSX, and this is what worked for us. Give it a try!

For some reason there were two folders in
/Applications/The Sims 3.localized/The Sims3.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming
Folder one: c_drive
Folder two: f_drive
We're not sure what the f_drive one was (we did have a network drive set up previously so it might have thought it was that), but I just disconnected the network drive and removed the 'f_drive' folder and after that it worked.

I purchased an original version within Istanbul today, and your files seem to work just fine. (I've got a Toshiba Satelite A100 Notebook with the RAM increased to 2 GB's instead of 512 MB, and I'm using Windows XP.)

I've also bought a hair from the store, and it didn't give me any errors. Thanks a lot for this quick and effective solution . . .

At the very bottom of the filesend page with the download is a button that says Download.
There may be a timer there at first, but when it counts down to 0 is will become the Download button.
I clicked the button just then and it downloaded fine for me.

For all those having graphics problems, the game has a list on the case of those it is compatible with, although upgrading your drivers will sometimes help. I have a GeForce 6150 on-board and it is not on that list but with the latest drivers it works although some detail is lost when zoomed out. YMMV of course.
