I just made a drawing, it took me all night. Please rate my drawing and tell me tips or things I need to fix. Here it is. Now don't be too harsh, I'm only eleven so I'm not that good at drawing.

EDIT: this layout does not work for images, I will post it in a bigger layout after first post.

Not too bad from my completely inexperienced opinion. I think if you keep working at it you could become a pretty good artist.

Do you copy other pictures free hand or is that all from in your head?

geeogree : Thank you I needed pictures of the Pokemon to get them exactly right, but other than that, no. I hope this works better.

I will upload one about every week.

zelda2 : And after I went through the trouble of copying the first one into paint and rotating it...

It actually has a nice sense of depth and perspective to it, not to mention consistent shadows from a single light source, which is nice. I might suggest a straight edge for flat lines like walls and signs and such, but for someone your age, I could definitely see you improving and becoming very good at this, if you practice. If you want to get as good as you can, just draw constantly and it will come in time. I mean, try and draw as well as you can each time, of course; it's like exercise.

If you want a tip, here is a pretty basic one. I see that you use pencil and thats good but try drawing like so that you first do a pencil drawing like this one. Then you use a black pen and draw over what you did with the pencil. Just give it a go. And after try to erase what is left of the penciling.

This how cartoonists usually draw and maybe you could try it too atleast. Not to say drawing with just a pencil is any better or worse, I just thought maybe you would like to try it just to see how your drawing style would look in a new way.

For somebody who is only eleven your drawing is pretty much okay. It has a good sense of perspective in it and shadowing.

Also when you do shadows, try to imagine where the light is coming from. Here in your pic you can imagine it comes from the left corner. But there is not much shadows on the charecters, yet they cast a shadow themselves. Try to imagine for instance, what kind of shadow a nose would cast on a face. Or how a leg or a piece of clothing would cast a shadow also. This is one way to make the charecters look more three dimensional.

Well, I hope I made any sense and if my tips are of any use.

I honestly don't know how I can give you constructive criticism when you are 11. It is a good drawing for your age and even better than anything I could draw probably. If you want to improve then I just suggest that you keep drawing. After all practice makes perfect.

Your age is eleven?
I have nothing to say. Your drawing skills are pretty good. Maybe go for some more own created fantasy instead of drawing existing things. Its not that I  think it doesn't look good. But I think you can improve your skills just more if you draw things your own way. Try create own things, own creatures etc.and try draw darker shadows. And darker outlines
your work is good. Keep it up!

zelda2 :

I see what you mean. Try to find some kind of art and suply store or something similiar and ask for a pen that would be sized 0.5 at most or smaller. Better yet, try to get pens that would be 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5. I cant recomend a specific brand since they sell different brands everywhere, but ask for a pens that size and try different brands to see what works out for you. Also the quality of paper can make even a best kind of pen "smudge" but a good kinda pen should work on normal paper you use in a copy machine or in a printer.

And when you ink, try to keep your hand steady and not to ink too much space at a time. Work ont it little by little.
