An anti-hero is the main character of a TV show who does bad things, often justified, but make you root for them the entire time.

Shows that are examples of this are Breaking Bad, Dexter, Weeds, Death Note, Mad Men, House, or Misfits.

There's a lot of anti-heroes on TV nowadays, and they're my favorite kind of protagonist.

Be it Dexter Morgan, Walter White, Nancy Botwin, Light Yagami, Gregory House, or Batman?

Who is the best anti-hero on television?


Personally, Walter White is the greatest anti-hero ever. He approved the shooting of a little boy for no reason, and I still root for him. Maybe there's something wrong with me, but I'm sure others do, too.

Second would be Dexter Morgan or Light Yagami, because their aims are essentially the same, but killing is still a bad thing, and they kill a ton of people, but they're still somebody that you'd want to go for.

Third is Nancy Botwin, she involuntarily killed all 4 of her husbands and destroyed her childrens lives, but I'm actually glad that she had a happy ending, why?

The only "hero" I can think of that does bad deeds is the Punisher. Hero's that are hated by the people is a different story

I liked Shane's anti-hero role he had earlier in the Walking Dead series before he got all crazy and wanted to take out Rick. Shane was the man. He's the type of guy you would want on your team during the Zombie apocalypse.
