Control issues seem to be a re-occurring problem amongst many Vizzed users, so I thought that I would make a guide to walk everyone through some of the most common solutions to them. Before you ask the staff for help, or make threads concerning control functionality, please refer to this thread.
If you are using Internet Explorer, make sure that Vizzed is added to your list of Trusted Sites. Sometimes, your Internet settings can block certain programs or scripted functions from running within the browser. This can often create issues with various C++ commands, and can cause emulators to not be able to recognize that values are being set to specific keys.
Make sure that Vizzed hasn't accidentally been blocked or restricted by Internet Explorer. This is rare, but it would be worth checking, just to make sure. Under the Tools menu, select Internet Options, and navigate to the Security tab. Check your lists of Blocked and Restricted Sites, and if the site is listed in either one, remove it. This may be a good time to check and make sure that it is in your list of Trusted Sites while you are at it.
Make sure that you do not have a pop-up blocker enabled. Often times, the control settings for emulators featured on the plug-in appear in a pop-up window. Disable your pop-up blockers before initiating the plug-in, or make sure that you add Vizzed to the list of sites you allow pop-ups on.
Try using a different browser to play Vizzed games. This is one of the most successful fixes to control issues. Different browsers could have certain settings or add-ons that you may not be aware of, and could be causing some type of interference that can't be pinpointed specifically. Some users report that Internet Explorer is the best browser to run the plug-in from, but the largest majority of them say they use FireFox. If you use Google Chrome or Opera, consider an alternative; neither of these browsers are very compatible with the plug-in or the site.
Unplug the device, and plug it back in. This is the most common fix of all, as well as the most simple. Sometimes, the device may not recognize that it is being used to set certain values in a program running C++. Unplugging the device and plugging it back in, should restore all possible broken connections between the device and your computer.
Update the device drivers, and make sure that the device is working properly. In your computer's Control Panel, there should be a Hardware and Device Manager, or something similar to that nature. From there, locate the device and ensure it reports proper functionality. If there is a problem with the device, then it may need to be replaced. You could contact the vendor of the device for more information on diagnostics and repair.
Check your keyboard locks, sticky keys, and toggle key settings. You can set different shortcuts to keys, for easier access. From the Control Panel, locate your Keyboard Configuration, and disable your personalized keyboard settings. Functions that have been set to specific keys, can conflict with them being set to other functions elsewhere.
Clear your caches, and repair registry issues. You can clear caches in-browser to make way for new data, but instead of attempting to repair registry values yourself, I suggest using a program such as CCleaner. This program clears caches and repairs broken registry strings, and is useful in improving overall performance of software and devices. It is completely free, and can be downloaded from a number of different sites. Google it for more information.
Disable your antivirus and firewall programs. These programs can sometimes interfere with commands being passed between your computer and Internet websites. Any restrictions on programs considered unknown or flagged as possible risks, could be causing a number of disruptions, including those that may be associated with Vizzed.
Try a different emulator, or a different device. For most systems, the plug-in features several possible emulators that can be used to play games, and each have different setup options for controls. Although this is not a direct fix, it can often solve the problem temporarily, if you do not mind playing on a different emulator. If your device just simply refuses to work for any emulator or game, consider using a plug-and-play USB game pad or an alternate keyboard. Most devices that are compatible with the plug-in as controllers, can be purchased for a reasonable price online, or from local retailers. Always make sure that the device is compatible with your computer, because if it isn't, then you won't be able to use it here, either.
Re-install the plug-in. This is a hassle, and I would only suggest doing it as a last resort, but it can be effective. In doing so, all information shared between your computer and the site is reset, hopefully working out the issue itself. Make sure you back-up your save data files before doing this, so that all of your hard work isn't lost.
Use a different computer. This may seem like a given, but if one is available to you, then go for it. Keep in mind, you won't be able to access any of the save files from your account not associated with that computer, so only do this if you don't mind starting over. Also be advised, that the plug-in is not made to function properly with Linux or Mac-based computers and operating systems.
If none of these suggestions apply to you, then chances are you have a more serious issue occurring. Please check other threads for possible solutions if your problem persists, and contact staff or create a thread in this forum if necessary. Thanks for reading, and I hope this information is helpful to you. Happy gaming!
