Due to the current winter storm rolling through my city, I decided to make a thread dedicated to snow days.

Snow days are when schools and buses get cancelled,  visibility is nearly impossible when driving, and you likely need to shovel your driveway in order to pull out of it.

I know many areas never or rarely experience snow storms of that nature, but if you do, I would like to hear some snow day stories.

Perhaps you decided to build a snow fort in your backyard. Maybe you called up some friends and went tobogganing. Maybe you spent your day or perhaps whole week without electricity.

Whatever your story is, I want to hear it.

Loved days when we had to tunnel through snow to get out our door. XD Wish we lived somewhere with snow now. My favorite snow day? We went swimming in an indoor pool, with family and friends. It was so fun!

my aunt use to have an indoor pool attached to a hot tub. We would go to her house for christmas every year, so we would hang out in the pool and hot tub all night.

I remember back in the day when my town got hit by 3 storms in a single week we were out of school that entire week we had like 3 feet of snow fall in a weeks time.  Great fun there, then today i kinda got a snow day from work since we blew a transformer cuz of the weather and we lost power in half the plant and we had more workers than we had places to put them lol.

My country is as far up north as well... Alaska might be familiar to you guys and we never had a "snow day". To tell that I could not get to school becausce there was snow would have been laughable. No school was ever canceled, even during actual blizzards. Also my parents would also tell "when I was your age I would have to ski 20 kilometeres to school in a storm so quit your yappin and start walking. Atleast you have a road with pavement that is ploughed each morning.!"

Also the winters "back when" were always colder and had more snow. Sure, they might not take into concideration that a bank of snow is ofcource bigger when you are eight thant it is when you are 28.

But I remember reading Calvin and Hobbes as a kid and it had lots of jokes about "snow days" and I used to wonder and still do, what kind of snowing count as much that schools would be canceled. And would it also mean people dont have to go to work either just coz its snowing?
