I had the same problem after I tried upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista.

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode with previous versions of Windows? It's supposed to be compatible with XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10. Starting with the most recent and working your way back may find a configuration that works.

I wouldn't really recommend freemake, if anyone is having issues running it. I recommend looking into Handbrake, because its easier and doesn't have one of the annoying installers that offers you stuff. If its wrong to advertise other programs though, I'm sorry.
