I guess I'll ask first. How long do you plan on being in the army?

earthwarrior : I plan on being in the Army for 20 plus years, that way I can get a retirement check when.I get out. 

Are even the slightest bit, worried you may die overseas if you were to be deployed?

To tack onto BluemageKyle's post, if you do die in combat (heaven forbid), is there some sort of payment to be sent to your family?
And is the money the only reason you wanted to go into the army, or do you feel a bit of patriotism motivated you as well?
Does it hurt to know some people are against the war and a lot of what the army does?

I am of the mind that I may not like us going into other countries to play peacekeeper, but I would not blame the soldiers for that, and thank them for being our protectors. It is something I wish people would do instead of hating on soldiers when they get home, or in the case of the ridiculous people at Westboro Baptist church, protest a soldier's funeral. I just hope soldiers like you and others understand that is NOT what everyone feels!

I knew someone who was in the army, but he was just a tech stationed in North or South Korea. What sort of position are you in?

Beastmode64 : Sorry. Nope. And I am pretty sure that is classified. Try google... probably won't be on there though. I drive trucks. Lol. That is my job.

Beastmode64 : Nuclear bombs are made through a process called "nuclear fission." Basically, an atom is split multiple times to the point where it releases an extreme amount of energy. It all ties into E=mc2 (energy equals mass times the velocity of light squared); even something as small as an atom contains enough energy to level half a continent. It's a pretty scary concept, but an intriguing one at that.

There's a lot more science involved in it of course, but that's the jist of it. I suggest researching nuclear fission if you're interested in the subject.

To remain topical: What kind of requirements do they have to join the army?

How long have you wanted to be in the army? And also, you did you get permission for this? I think you might need permission from the Globals first.

If you were only had 5 days to live, and you could do anything you wanted in the world..what would you do? Would you travel to an exotic country...see all your family? Climb Mt. Everest? Just assuming money wasn't an option

the_casualty : mainly... it depends on what you score on your ASVAB to see what MOS you get (job). And you have to be able to pass the P.T. test.

Yes, I am good. I can have this. I am keeping it military related... and it is about me. Besides, this is my forum. I am staying within the rules.

Jordanv78 : I would not tell my family. I would take ALL OF THEM... all 3 sides (mom, dad, and step-mom) to Japan or Tokyo or Guam, or maybe even Rome. I can not climb Mt. Everest in 5 days dude. I think the record is more than 5 days... But no. I would spend it with my family in a exotic and touristy place, and then tell them with about 48 hours left, go home, and die at peace.

Is it harder than you expected? What rank are you?

mrfe :  no, not really. I mean, in some ways, it is harder than expected... the P.T. is, mostly because of my spinal condition and how out of shape I was when I joined. But it really is not that hard. The Physical Training is probably the hardest thing for me because of my health and conditions.
My rank is an E-1 Nothing, a "fuzzy", a private, a PV1. I should be getting promoted by March though. I sure hope so... because in terms of the maximum time before promotion... I should have it in about a little over 10 days. That is when I will start getting payed as an E-2, PV2, PVT.
