Well their nearly all the same, only difference is appearance of Pokemon really.
Yellow is great because you can get all 3 previous starters in it.
Though I give special mention to Red because it was the first one I got when Pokemon came out so it will always be great

I like yellow version my self only for the fact of the difficulty in it. becaus with red and blue you get to chose your starter, and if your anything like me you manly train your starter pokemon, and i just like pikachu the best out of any other pokemon.

I'm pretty sure you can get bulbasaur squirtle and charmander in yellow too, just not at the beginning. they get given to you by NPC's in a few different cities.

I would say blue since I was able to beat it with ease than having a Pikachu follow me around and not be able to evolve it into a Raichu so i'd pick Blue Version

personally i think it is going to be yellow because it is so much better as it is off of the show and u get all three starters and the game is better just with the storyline and haveing team rocket in it makes it the best.but that is just my opinion.

there all equal in there own way,but,for some people,yellow would be the best mainly cause it was the first pokemon game where you have a pokemon follow you around with you(pikachu),but the downside is that you didnt get a choice in your starter pokemon,you had 2 just live with the one you got =/

I guess someone liked the idea of Pokemon following you around since they decided to revive the feature for HG/SS.
