I find some games like Skyrim,Mw2 controversial,by some motives, but that we have ratings right? But also it's a game, not real life. And what is your opinion about controversial games and companies anyway? But also it's a game, not real life. And what is your opinion about controversial games and companies anyway? |

If someone can tell me a game that is more just plain sick and Wrong than RapeLay I am not sure I even want to hear about it. And no, I have not played it or ever want to. They say you should not say bad things about a game if you havent tried it but even reading about it has made me sick to almost puking so... No. Never ever. |

There's so many. Any of those Grand Theft Auto games-I mean, you're stealing cars and beating up hookers. Then there's the ones where you're that assassin guy-not Assassin's creed, the real-life one. I can't remember the name but wow, really? There's so many games that glorify killing for money or whatever; even Army of Two is all about killing people for money. Kind of an indication of where our society is at right now. |

ScarletDemon :
For real? I cant imagine which retailer would ever carry it. Here they dont sell it but some dude who was caught kidnapping a kid not so long ago, the cops found it on his computer. I guess it was a download. Anyway, anyone who thinks GTA is bad is obiviosly very innocent. And yeah, the name says it all. Ugh. For real? I cant imagine which retailer would ever carry it. Company? Definitely EA. They were once good, helped produce some actual quality games at one point, even. Now all they do is ship out pretty bad Sports games and other general Multiplayer games. Along with that, they have also attempted to buy out Valve or Steam a while ago (Which they failed at), which resulted in a lot of hate thrown at them. They have also stated that a Single Player game will not be made by them again, as long as the current owner is still in charge, which is a pretty poor move, Nya~.
Game? I can't really think of any, since none really get out that are really "controversial". Mass Effect 3 got some dirt thrown at its face over the Sandy Hook stuff, just because the gunman "liked" (FaceBook) the game, but that shouldn't really make it controversial, just a bad coincidence, Nya~. Brigand : It was a pornographic game that was only sold at adult stores in Japan or on online stores. It's supposed to be "hot", but obviously this isn't really the case (they were going for a really niche audience I guess). I hear a lot of people who try to defend the game say things like "why are you guys not freaking out about games with murder, which is a more serious crime than rape?", or "there are a lot nastier things that can be done in eroge", but personally, I feel that even though there are eroge with freakier (I'll just put it at that) content than Rapelay, this game feels more disturbing because for one thing It's played from a first person perspective (from what I can remember from reports), it has a somewhat realistic art style (although the game was released a long time ago), making the fact one of the targets in the game being a child more disturbing, and while most eroge are either visual novels with non-interactive 'scenes', or have a mini game to play with the said scene played as a reward, Rapelay takes a more 'semi-simulation" approach, making it as if you are the criminal and you are doing the deed. Although there are first person shooters were you murder people, which is just as bad of a crime as rape, those games are just for entertainment, Rapelay, however, fetishizes rape and we all know what people do with sexually explicit material... (eww..) long story short, Rapelay twisted game for people with twisted tastes, and it's a shame it has a similar name to the legendary Axelay. But moving on I will not talk about a controversial company, but rather a man who became controversial a few years ago, Yoshio Sakamoto (Not sure if I got his name right). Yoshio Sakamoto has had a pretty normal career at Nintendo. He did character designs for Metroid, wrote the story for Super Metroid, directed Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission, and was involved in the creation of Rhythm Heaven (but don't quote me on that last one). He was fairly respected until one day he became director and producer of a Metroid game with Team Ninja known as Metroid: Other M. This game was intended to be the game that would give the protagonist Samus more of a personality rather than just being an avatar sent to fight aliens. Unfortunately, writing a story with dialogue and cinematics was different from a 16-bit game with hardly much plot, and the result of Sakamoto's inexperience in cinematics writing resulted in Samus looking a bit more emotionally weaker than before (she freaks out when she sees Ridley). A questionable authorization system, and some awkward plot holes. The game got mixed reception and didn't just split the fandom, it shattered, fractured, and divided the fandom. Some who liked the game said that it gave Samus more personality, and she was strong through her actions by jumping on aliens and blowing their brains out, but they all got brutally attacked by haters. The haters despised the game for Samus's characterization and sometimes the gameplay (linearity and first person mode). This game caused everyone to hate Sakamoto and say that he is a sexist for 'weakening Samus', he is 'Japanese George Lucas' (although George Lucas did more that just one thing to get backlash) and that those who like the game are not metroid fans, but 'sakamoto's fans' who threaten the metroid franchise by supporting the game. Sakamoto be came essentially Satan to a lot of Metroid fans and people forgot everything else he was involved in and just associated him with Other M. some people even wanted to spread the hate through making a misinterpretation of an interview about Metroid Prime, where some claim he announced the Prime trilogy to be non-canon when really he only said they just weren't related to the mother brain plot line, as Prime was more about Phazon and the antagonist Metroid Prime. They are still canon, but let's be honest, it doesn't have much to do with Super Metroid and Other M. If you can make one game with amateur writing that misinterpreted as sexism, completely divides a fan base of the first human female video game character, and got thousands to hate you, then it's pretty safe to say you are quite a controversial guy. I kinda understand how one might be Squeamish about gran teft auto or anything by rockstar games but Skyrim? I just dont get what is so terribly controversial about it? Sure it had a lot of bugs but otherwise, I dont get. Also in Grand teft autos, killing hookers and all that. Its not like you have to do it. Or go postal in a crowd between missions. Its really up to the player. You can even obey the traffic rules if you like.
And about rapelay, nuff said. I think uberkoopa worded why the game is so disturbing way better than I could have. And about rapelay, nuff said. I think uberkoopa worded why the game is so disturbing way better than I could have. |

Brigand : There was really no controversy for Skyrim that I can remember, but I think that the Skyrim and Morality thread was just talking about the grey morality the player is presented (killing innocent people for a quest, stealing). Like you said Brigand, you don't have to do some quests, it is a nonlinear game after all. |

Street Fighter X Tekken is controversial, due to the fact that the characters that you're downloading as DLC content are already inside the disc. Yeah, you're buying somenthing you already have, but you don't have access to that. And look at how many DLC characters there are...I don't even believe,Capcom. Megaman Legends 3 is also controversial. They've just cancelled the game, out of nowhere...that's no way to treat Megaman,Capcom! Not only that, they've said we are to blame,we,Megaman fans...that can't be more wrong.
