I wasn't paying much attention to the TV, just having it on the background, and I didn't realize that the show I had been sort of watching had changed to a new show. And suddenly my attention was grabbed...by the sight of these mechanical arms picking up sandwiches and squishing them into packages.  That was the most appetizing part of the show, really.  Bread out on conveyor belts being sliced by vibrating knives, egg salad being dispensed by giant nozzles, suction cups everywhere...

I think I'm not going to ever buy a sandwich from the convenience store again. So this is my question: do you guys watch these kind of shows? Do they mess with your heads?

I, for one, absolutely refuse to watch the behind-the-scenes hidden cameras in the kitchen shows...I have a feeling I'd never eat out again, if the commercials tell us anything. 

Tell me if you watch them, and why. I'm curious to know if I'm just being a wimp, or if other people have this problem as well.

thudricdholee : They don't really affect me. If the food that they make is good and isn't harmful in any way, I don't see it as a big deal. Unless it is made out of something completely repulsive.

I never ever watched a show like that but if I did Iam pretty sure they wouldn't prevent me from eating something no matter how disgusting it looks so the answer is no

Well sometimes when it is on i watch them. Like when it shows how they make chicken nuggets and they spin this giant vat of stuff that looks like pink soft serve ice cream. I don't really care how they make it. It still tastes good.

Surprizeingly not by now... even after being a person to watch "How it's made" and the food channel a lot

   When it comes to watching how food is made I'm okay, sometimes its tasty, just don't tell what it is until I've tried it.  But the thing that really disgusts me is finding out what staff people do example. (fyi this actually happened) One day a family came and kept harassing there waiter so she went in the kitchen and told her boyfriend, the chef he got pissed and put the pancakes in his britches shook it around, making sure they got a nice rub on his balls and put it on the plate and told her to take it out.  She did and the people said they were the best pancakes they  ever had.  Lesson learned be nice to your waiter.

See, I agree that you should always be nice to your servers, but stuff like that shouldn't happen...and I'm way happier not knowing about stuff like that, because now I'm always kind of wondering...I've seen shows where cooks pee in the food, spit in it, drop it on the floor and pick it back up...I just don't want to know, because it makes it hard to eat out. Ugh.
