Hi there everyone.

I always find these things a bit daunting at first, there's always the risk of finding a lot of spammers, flamers and trolls on these things but this site seems really well maintained and a good community (I'm guessing the old school games keep the new school "gamers" or C.o.D trolls away)

I'm having a little trouble getting the hang of things so if anyone could help point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. I'm a big fan of RPGs I played as a kid (Shining in the Darkness, Rings of Power, Sword of Vermilion etc.) and obviously saving these games is vital. Playing them in one sitting is a BIT hardcore lol

I'm not great with computers, I struggle with zipped files and mods and things of that nature, just not something I've spent any time around or have much understanding of. The latest speed bump this has caused is I can't figure out how to save my games? I've tried looking through the forums but there are SO many to look through. I've found threads relating to save problems with individual games, but not how to just "save" in general.

The good thing is this is the only problem I'm having. The site's great, I'm pimping it out to anyone who'll listen and love the approach of "if you can't BUY it, what makes it piracy?" very well put guys. You should be proud.

If I've made a mistake by talking about this here, sorry, like I say I'm not THAT clued up on these things.

in games the only way that i save is pressing F2 but i think that is the worst way cause it only saves it to your computer and to reload it is F4. Sadly i do not know how to correctly save on this site i have just been using F2 and F4.

Has this site got quite a large community? Has it been around a while? I can't even remember how I found it, one of those time I was just looking up different stuff on the Internet. I know I was looking up videos and review of old games I played on my Sega Megadrive (Genesis) but wasn't searching any emulators.

However I found it I'm just glad I did. Having a great time with all these trips down memory lane

As for your saving question... if the game originally supported saving in-game, just save like you normally would have. Alternatively, you could use a Save State (F2 to save, F4 to load) but those tend to be less stable on some systems. It's best to do a regular save if possible and load through the game's menu like you were playing it on the actual console.

Randy_Valentine : Welcome to the site, I hope that you enjoy your stay. Like has been said a few times using Save-States (F2)(load with F4) Is the best way to do this. Even if you save in-game you should use a save state just in case. So many times have I seen people lose their in-game saves due to one thing or the other. Using Save-States ensures this never happens.

In order to use save state, you need to download and install the RGR plugin. Have you done this yet?

I had downloaded the RGR download. I was still trying to save "in game" then was confused next time I fired up the game I had no option to continue

Then I figured out I had to use the function keys. Boy is my face red

speaking of which, I feel thoroughly under-dressed on this site. So many beautiful backgrounds.
