It was Louisville last night with the upset over Florida, for me, a BIG surprise. I don't know about the rest of you but I didn't see the Big East Co-Co-Champion even putting up a FIGHT with the number 3 ranked Florida and their big time SEC defense!! astonishing.

Now we have K-State playing Oregon and as expected Oregon comes out on fire and shocks K-State a little bit with that speed and DeAnthony Thomas (he had a big bowl game last year and so far looks to be having a big one tonight) and unless K-State can catch on fire on offense or find a way to slow down Chip Kellys offense I don't see an upset happening tonight.

As for the National Championship game that's a tough one. You wanna believe that the SEC breeds the stronger team and with all the experience on the Alabama side with having been there before, you just wanna think Alabama's got this one in the bag. BUT touchdown Jesus is in full effect this year and it seems that Notre Dame just has it all going for them now. Both defenses are great and with a player like Manti Teo you have to think they are just about equal in that aspect. I don't have a prediction for this game but I look forward to seeing some!

You wanted a prediction, and I'll give one to you. But first off, I'm as surprised as you about the Florida game. Florida should'a won easily, but they choked. So far this bowl season, I've been mostly correct. So I feel confident in my prediction. But enough suspense, I say that Notre Dame will win. Oh, BTW, Atlanta wins the super bowl.

I'm going to say it will be the team that jumps out to a quick lead...once these two defenses get their footing I don't think they will budge no matter how hard the offenses push. If Notre Dame stops Lacy they still have to worry about Yeldon...and if they stop Yeldon they have to worry about McAaron and Cooper beating them...I'd give Alabama the slight edge on offense, and to be quite honest it's hard not to give them the edge on the defensive side of the ball to, with Sabans great proven defensive system, even with Teo I don't think Nortre Dame is a better defensive ball club...I saw a stat on ESPN today that they are at 76% for red zone defense that might be key to stopping the running of Lacy but I think they will move the ball between the 20's. I can't see this game being a blowout either way...maybe one of the best national championship match ups in a couple years, the teams are very similar in style of play.

panther1 : I’m probably one of the few sports writers around who rarely watches college football. The main thing I don’t like about college football is the lack of an adequate playoff system or at least that’s the way it has seemed to me. I did catch the latter minutes of the Outback bowl on Monday though. The hit that Michigan player took in the 4th I have no idea how he got up from that. It hurt me just looking at it. I also watched the Orange bowl between Northern Illinois and FSU. NI held their own but FSU was just too much. I do think if given the proper time NI could surprise people in the years to come. USF was once considered an upstart program and they’ve come a long way. It makes things more entertaining to watch that’s for sure. I just wish they had an adequate playoff system.

I’m picking Norte Dame next Monday night over Alabama. From what I’ve seen ND always has found a way to win despite seemingly being outgunned on paper. I just think they have too much momentum. Should be a great game.

That's a good point about Notre Dame...when a teams hot and clicking it can make up for a talent margin.  The hit that Clowney (SC) put on the Michigan back was legendary, not only did he destroy him and the next 4 generations of his family he made him fumble and grabbed the ball with one hand and recovered it. Clowney will probably go in the top 5 in next years draft if not drafted number 1, he's been on the radar since high school.
