And realistically a basic desktop PC to use for that sort of stuff is cheap.
Now I'm talking in Aussie dollars here, so it should be even cheaper there.
This is to build it yourself mind you, not a pre-build.
The software is where the majority of your money will go, unless you get it another way
So yes, you might as well get your dream machine.

But either way you look at it, you're always going to be paying at least 2 times more for a Mac that has the same power of a PC (at half the price), even if it's prebuilt.

There is a method behind Apple's madness. You see, Macs come with actual programs that aren't little freebies or apps that don't really do anything(I'm talking to you, paint!). Because everything in a Mac is, literally, made for Mac, it means faster load times and less likely to crash. Also, it's INCREDIBLY green(I already know that you said it was a lame reason, but it's good for the environment. Let's face it, it's about damn time there's a computer that's eco-friendly).

So, I know that PC's(no matter what OS they come with) are cheaper, but Macs...we all know how much I love Macs. I'd be going for a Mac then.
