GUN

Sub platform: PSP
Genre:Action Adventure > Historic

Gun came out a few years ago firstly on PC and then was one of the first title releases on 360. I immediately bought it because it was developed by Neversoft who developed all of the Tony Hawk games which I was always a huge fan of. The fact that Neversoft had only developed fun games of the one genre was enough to leed me to beleive this was going to be a sweet game, which it was.
Intro:
Based in the wild west, you play a character named Colt White, son of Ned White, who both live off the land in the rocky mountains. One day Colt and Ned go on a steam boat trip to trade in their hunted animals for money when Colt notices something strange going on between his father and a woman regarding a safe. The steamboat is attacked leaving Ned wounded and forcing Colt to jump overboard after telling Colt he's not his real father and to visit jenny in dodge city. Colt jumped overboard and shortly after the boat explodes. Colt is now washed up on the shore outside of dodge city waking up to mystery worth solving.
Gameplay: 9/10
This is definetely a fun game with easy controls. You have 4 difficulties to play on, easy is a little too easy, good for kids who just want to shoot things up. The story line is merged with the gameplay nicely, making it a more interesting game.
Much like GTA, you are not forced to play level after level. The world is quite big and open, sectioned off into big chunks which you unlock by playing the actual story line. Side missions such as bounty hunter and pony express (speedy deliverys made on horseback) keep you entertained, earn you money which you spend on weapon upgrades and increase your stats making it easier to play as it gets harder.
Graphics: 8/10
This game took off just as bloom was becomming very popular. It's difficult to find an outdoors game that has nice surroundings like mountains and landscapes which also doesnt make you feel like your fenced off in little sections. Textures are photo realistic and well used, even the horses are done very well.
Sound: 8/10
I found no sound glitches when I was playing, interesting used of wild west dialog and a nice soundtrack.
Final Recommendations:
This game will be in bargain bins right now, making it a sweet game thats very cheap to buy. I highly recommend it for all western fans who dont like a deep serious approach to gameplay.
