how do you save?? ive done it about 3 or 4 times. i save with the old lady and from the menu screen. i come back later and its not there.

Well I'm not too sure about how to save from the game itself but if you are using the plugin, then save states can be used to save your progress for the next time you plan on playing. To create a save state or to replace an existing save state for the same game, you click F2. To load the latest save state created for that game click F4. Just note that once a save state is replaced, at least as far as I know, it can't be recovered.

Yes, saving in game is not a good idea and usually doesn't work properly.  To confirm what megamanmaniac said (since he wasn't certain), click F2 to save and when you restart the game , hit F4 to bring the game back up.  (Wait until the game loads.)

You won't be able to recover what you've saved using the 'old lady' or whatever in game method you used.
