It was the best book I ever read, and I liked the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so I think it is going to be good. I won't be going to see it on opening day though, and maybe not even in theaters, but I will definately watch it eventually.

To be quite honest, I don't think it will be as good as the Lord of the Rings movies. I still think it will be good. From the sounds of it, it looks like it has gone even farther from the books than the trilogy did.

I am going to see it, but not opening week. I loved this book, but to be honest, The Hobbit was kind of the 'children's book' compared to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I know it's not going to be as good of a movie as the trilogy, but I think I'm going in with more of an open-hearted, childlike expectation anyway-willing to overlook flaws for the sheer joy and wonder of seeing the book I loved so much brought to life. I can't see that they're going to ruin it. ...they had better not ruin it. Oh, god I hope they don't ruin it.

Will I see it? Yes.
Will I go to the theater for it? More then likely.
What are my expectations of it? Well... to be honest for it to be a utter flop. I plan on going to see it next week. I expect to like it; I don't think that I could dislike it, honestly. The sheer joy of seeing a book i loved as a child brought to the big screen...but I don't expect to be all that impressed. I have a feeling that it's going to disappoint me in several spots, because my imagination is probably better than what they can do on the big screen.

I saw it and I was genuinely happy and impressed with it. They did a really good job of making it blend well with the other movies, as a prequel of course. And I was left eager and looking forward to the next one.
