Here's an amazing tip that can bring you to a whole new level of strategy. Try experimenting with it!

When you inhale an enemy (it doesn't matter what enemy or if it gives an ability or not) press X and you will hold the enemy above your head. Depending on the enemy you're holding up, they can perform a unique attack or action above you head or they may perform a special action when thrown. For an example, holding a Galbo (the dragon head thing that gives Fire) above you head, it will breathe fire for about a second followed by a short pause before breathing fire again. This tip will probably bring you to a completely new strategy which will make the game much more fun.
