As a Sonic fan(and not like the hypocritical people around the internet) I really enjoy playing the blue blur's titles. There are some games I would not want to play but for the most part they are good. The game in question for this thread is Sonic CD. Personally...I don't find it much of a compliment to the classic titles. I like it, don't get me wrong, but I really don't think it is much of a title to be called 'fantastic'. If you think this game is overrated as well or if you think there is something I am missing, I would love to see what you have to say on the matter and how constructive one can be towards criticism.

I enjoyed sonic cd, the dashing around, the rings, stopping robotnik, ah the classic formula.Sonic cd offered a better view of things. Sonic, as you know is a hedgehog who wants everyone to just live life and not hurt each other, Dr. Robotnik however wants the egg empire (I think that's what it is called) to take over the world and Sonic stops him...repeatedly, Dr. Robotnik after failing creates a super robot to live, adapt, grow stronger, find weaknesses and exploit them, and obtain new powers to rival if not utterly destroy sonic the hedgehog, this new "metal sonic" puts a spin on the classic formula, instead of just breezing through the level and fighting a boss, sometimes you have to escape because you can't win against something that strong. The graphics, the sounds, the uhh....woodland creatures are all in this sonic extravaganza, and YOU were invited just press start.

Honestly I think it is one of the best Sonic games ever made. It has to be underrated and worthwhile if not amazing. This game has a very great soundtrack and I love the features in this game like time traveling. This is one of the games that made me start to like Sonic in the first place, let alone one of the games I was playing on Vizzed as a guest before I actually joined.

So yeah, this game is very awesome.

I'm kinda on the fence about whether or not I like it or not. I want to like it because its Sonic, but I think the level design is too random. I think its overrated, honestly.

I don't think it's over rated, it not all that bad, The level design was different but more treasure based and not speed based. That is why so many people give this game garbage, And I am not one of them. 
 
EDIT- it was the music that was terrible, (were talking about the American version here) the EU/JP soundtrack was much better.

I think that Sonic CD is a great game. The odd level design made it unique, and the soundtrack was amazing too. I also really enjoyed fighting Metal Sonic and traveling through time, so while its not my favorite Sonic game I think it is definitely not overrated.

Its both overrated and worth while at the same time for me. The game itself is a really nice touch to the "new" Sonic that we know today, and gives us a new element in Sonic's games. At the same time, its overhyped. Especially the soundtrack. Eh.

Overall, the game is something to play if you enjoy Sonic games, or even an elemental games. Try it out.

Meh, I could say it's overrated. Most classic Sonic fans say that this game is the best. The soundtrack is too, especially the JPN soundtrack.

I personally really like the level design and Sonic's ability to super peel.

I don't like most of the American music but the Japanese soundtrack sounds pretty nice.

What I don't really understand is why people like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 so much. 
It's my least favorite Sonic genesis title.

It's probably just because of very small minor changes from Sonic 1.

I think that it's not quite overrated. . . I don't mind if everyone thinks that it's good
It does have nice stuff about it.

Just remember that when it comes to liking games and disliking them, personal taste is a huge factor.

I had always liked Sonic CD. I like it a lot more than some of the games coming out now. In fact, to me it is only second to Sonic Adventure 2. (After Sonic CD comes Sonic 2)

Overrated because all it is is the same track, just with maybe 3 different song changes.

Sonic CD is one if not my favorite Sonic game out there, and I'm not sure why when I start to play it, I just can't stop till I have beaten the entire thing.

Personally it gets overhyped but if I am to be honest not a lot of people had a Sega CD to play it on thus, if you didn't get the chance and you like sonic It is worthwhile playing to see if you like it.

Of course it's overrated I hear twenty people a day yap about how great the game is when I don't see why it is so popular all I see is a sonic game that confuses me by how much hype it has.

Sonic CD, is extremely overrated. Don't get me wrong, its a decent Sonic game. Its just that the gimmicks are overdone, and the stage designs are horrible. I kind of regret giving the game a B+ in my review. I'd scale it down to a C+
