Hey everybody! This is a thread about me wanting to know if anyone is getting the Wii U or at least know about it. It had came out today and I want it so bad! It looks cool and is their first console that has HD graphics on par with the Ps3 and Xbox 360. You should spend a little time to look at it.

Most likely, you won't be disappointed. Probably the only people who know or care about it is Nintendo fans, like my good self. http://www.nintendo.com/wiiu

Go there! Plus, there is already games out for it already! Let me know what you think about it.

I really don't know if I'm a nintendo fan since I haven't touched my wii and hardly my gamecube for the last half a month or almost a year maybe, but I got the WII U, and I love a lot of it except one thing. However let me discuss what I like first.

The controls are spot on beautiful...for me at least. I got the Frys bundle pack $449 which came with new super mario bros U (I was going to get it as my first game anyway so now I have I got it for sure even though it sold out), nintendo land, 32 gb wii, and all that deluxe set stuff, and a cool black wand and nunchuck that looks almost like some kind of a ps3 meets wii (not ps move).

At first, I thought the wii remote controls sucked but it turns out, my sensor bar plug was just not in well enough, so make sure if you have any problems to replug the sensor bar and make sure it is in the Wii U snugly tight. The controls work perfectly and I had no problems yet with nintendo land or new super mario bros U. The games are really fun too. However, I guess since I've never played new super mario bros U., I found it pretty amazing, but those who have played them all, might not find it too new, but who knows. The cool thing about it was the boost mode that the gamepad provides where a user can touch the screen to set helper blocks, or stop enemies in their tracks by tapping them. There are some nice things the gamepad could do and my friends couldn't help but call it the "god player" since technically you could use it to make another player's life miserable. However, even the gamepad player has fun freaking out trying to save other players from death, having to choose who to help over another.

Nintendo Land on the other hand was perhaps the best introduction I've seen to a nintendo console by far. This game really shows many of the things the Wii U is capable of, I'm serious. Out of the twelve awesome games, I learned of all the many functions a game could use to further enhance gameplay. I really don't know how to describe it but just the way you can manipulate the gamepad's gyroscope allows for movement with different camera angels and just so many things. In short, the Nintendo Land felt like a future release for the next Mario Party to come and my goodness will Mario Party be a great game if Nintendo Land is a beta to its controls. I really...REALLY recommend Nintendo Land if you did not purchase the deluxe set.

Now this aside, there are some pretty nifty functions the Wii U. is capable of, and the switching of tv screen and gamepad thing really does work, but one problematic thing that has given me problems all day, is connecting to the internet. For me, it just won't find my linksys, even when I have the router right next to it! I don't know why it does this, but I searched up solutions to solve in and what I found were steps that literally provide something I couldn't have possibly figured out on my own in any form or way, just to get the Wii U to connect to your Wi-fi, security or no security. Apparently, you need to enter in some special code that just happens to work for the subnet mask which really confuses me since you are supposed to be using your own. Sadly, you need the internet if you ever plan on updating, because it's impossible you use half the functions on the Wii U, such as Netflix, Youtube (no update for those), and the Wii menu (as in the wii, not the wii u, but not possible to use without an update).

Another thing that bothers me a little is, since I can't use the wii menu yet without an update, I'm guessing that means I can't transfer my Wii data to the Wii U. Here's one thing you should know about transferring your Wii data to your Wii U though. Once you transfer the data, it deletes it off your wii. This, bothers me a little because, what if the game just doesn't work to well on the wii u? I can't really transfer it back from what I've heard. But maybe there is a way. One thing that is annoying is, you can't transfer data that's nontransferable still! I would have loved to transfer my mario kart wii or smash data, but, that's not possible. So, looks like we can't throw away are wiis after all if we can't transfer everything.

I was planning on getting the basic pack because apparently you can just connect a 3 terabyte usb hardrive to, but, Wii U's were all sold out and only the bundle was availiable, and it was worth it since I'm not stuck with one game. Now why haven't I just used a wired connection for the wii? Well, I need a usb transformer for in unfortunately. So, I won't be able to update my wii for awhile.

Shogun Gamer : Hm. Your aspect of the Wii U sounds spot on. I haven't gotten the Wii U yet, but by your description, it doesn't seem to bad, maybe good in fact.

I might be able to help with the transferring thing. If you had an SD card for your Wii, you could just transfer all the games you want to keep to that SD card. Once you transfer your Wii data to the Wii U, you could put all of your wanted games back into the Wii with the SD card. Simple as that. But be warned, not all games is able to be transferred to the SD card, which sucks.

All in all, your description makes me worry if I am actually going to be satisfied with it because I am only getting Nintendo Land, but still I can't wait. I hope you have loads of more fun with the Wii U!

Bluey5 : Dude...I was just looking for the next games to get, and now I'm feeling worried for a different reason from yours.

Trust me, you'll enjoy nintendo land, and it is a blast with friends and family. I played against my dad and it's been awhile since I've laughed so hard in my life. It's scary that the game wasn't joking when it said you'll laugh or have tears and etc. But they give you 12 games, different levels to them, and different ways to play some of them, and some are multiplayer only. Nintendo land is very good, any reviews saying it's bad are, not lies, but not really true either. The least I could give it is an 8 out of 10 if I want to be a mega harsh critic which I'm not really (I gave street fighter alpha 3 an amazing score even after destroying it on the music, because the game outshines what I hated most.) But I really love this game because there is a lot of variety and it has its own achievements to keep you going at it to become the best.

But aside from this, what I'm worried about are games to get now. My first game I shall get, but a I'll wait just a tiny bit, is Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed. Apparently, on all consoles, the game is splendid. No critic was able to bash it hard enough to try and get it far below 8/10. It's received plenty of 8s and 9s, but I don't care about that. I care about the goods stuff only, and I automatically knew this game would be amazing (seriously from a year ago I knew). But here is the one problem as of today on the Wii U version. In career mode, there is a glitch that ultimately makes the check points disappear in this one mission you have to do, and makes it impossible to proceed in the career mode. Sega will be patching it, but I hope they do it soon because I want to play the game's career mode NOW! You can even do world tour 2 players just like the old days in mario kart games.

The next game I'll get I have trouble deciding on. There is Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper which has fun hack n' slash gameplay which I don't mind in the least because right now, I need some kind of action game for the wii u to get away from platformers and the such when I need to. However, there is also Assassin's Creed 3 which I've also heard good things about, so, it's a very very tough choice. And then there is also Mass Effect 3, which even though suffers from loading times with even basic things, is still a great game that can't be passed up. But other than that, I'm not sure if anything else catches my eye.

I'm already crying my eyes out inside my head because I should have got Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for the Wii U since apparently many fans love it more. But I've come so far in the ps3 version that I can't just let it go. If one day I can rent it, I shall.

There are other games yet to come that look good, Bayonetta 2 for instance, but that's not coming out till the third or fifth month next year. There are some great games out there, maybe not to many, Ninja Gaiden isn't that good of a port from what I saw, but it's really too hard to decide because I'm concentrating on having a variety in genre, not good games. Some are coming out later and I wish I were more patient for them.

And as for the internet issue, I've been looking it up, and I had somewhat a little bit of trouble finding problem forums, so it's just me and a few others most likely. It doesn't happen to everyone. (but sonic does, so hopefully a patch comes soon and I get my internet problem solved so I can get this patch when it comes along)

What games are you planning on getting? That could decide your impression of the Wii U almost. I still love it regardless, and I assure you, you don't have to worry much. But if you are, just message me when you get it, tell me first reactions, ask any questions, etc.

And thank you about the wii information but I already knew of this as I do have some data on my SD card. But, I'm ok with not transferring everything.

Truthfully, very excited to see how the Wii U pans out, however I can't help but think that the design/product development team have run out of ideas?! If (and I appreciate this is a big ask) the wii was as graphically advanced as consoles like the 360, PC's etc, etc, i'd be more excited.
However essentially, this is just a non portable nintendo DS.

Although I won't kick it till i've tried it! very excited.

sagar2812 : Oh no, no, no. Your all wrong. See, this isn't just some other knock off console or handheld like the 3ds and the Wii. It is a handheld within a console, and it does supports graphics on par to the ps3. Maybe even top notch computer graphics. The Wii U is being very underestimated due to the fact of the Wii, which will mainly be Nintendo's downfall.

Running out of ideas? No, they're just getting started. They were saving a innovative idea like this ever since the Wii's sales dropped. The Wii U isn't some accidentally idea or cheap idea. The Wii U is original and is for real this time!

Nevertheless, I hope you have fun with it. Which I am sure you will.

I'm trying to find a store in my area that has a Wii U...so far no luck =(

Shogun Gamer : I'm sorry but what games did you get when you first bought the Wii U? And I believe Mass Effect 3 is only an Online purchase since the stores in my area didn't have any Mass Effect 3 copys in stock (might have ran out).

Yeah, I heard that the Wii U is finally out! There gonna have 2 models; One that comes in white, that has 8KB Memory or you can get a Black model, (Which I'm Getting), That has 32KB of memory, and comes packed with Nintendo Land. New Super Mario Bros. U, if my favorite mario game by far, but I haven't tried it so, sagar2812, We'll just have to wait and see. Too bad The Wii will be forgotten in a few months. I got that thing for my birthday. *sniff* I hate to see the Wii's funeral. *bum* R.I.P Here lies the Wii 2007-2012. The Wii U is gonna use Blu-Ray technology
But, Spoiler: Cannot play Blu-Ray dvd's. But about 4KB Will go to running your system! So it's better to by the black model which brings us to prices: White : 249.99 Black : 349.99. So, I hope you all have a good experince with the Wii U!

I gotta do a little gloating dance.

Oldschool41 : Yeah, that didn't have my copy in stores either. I don't even know when I am getting it. Hopefully before Christmas. I'm also surprised that they don't have Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U in stores!

GameBoy1023 : The Wii U Can't play blu-ray DVDs!? Well that really sucks. You are also right about the Wii, it will be forgotten. Not be me though, I am going to keep it around actually to play some of my GameCube games. I can't wait to get it and I hope you have loads of fun with the Wii U, which you probably will.

Bluey5 : Might just be in my area. You should check the area your in. So far I've just checked 1 Wal-Mart and 1 Target. Planning on trying to head to gamestop or another Target/Wal-Mart. But I believe I might have to wait till Black Friday to get one (which means standing out in 20 degree weather.) You getting the Black or White consule (I'm getting the Black 32 GB since I heard that an update for the Wii U took about 5 GBs...not 100% sure if its legit or not).

Oldschool41 : DANG! 5GB! That's just insane. The Deluxe version is a must now! The regular version would only leave you 3GB!

But I was already planning on getting the the Deluxe version already. I don't know when I am getting mine and the only game I am going to have for it until Christmas is Nintendo Land.

In my area, they only have a special offer at Walmart. It's sold out everywhere else!

Bluey5 : That's what I've heard, so I can't say for certain. Maybe Shogun Gamer would know since he has one. But yeah for $50 extra for 24 more GBs, its worth it.

Oldschool41 : I got a special pack from Frys electronics which not only came with the 32gb wii u and all that premium pack stuff. This came with two games, Nintendo Land, and Super Mario Bros U.

And I'm totally unable to connect to my own Wi-Fi which really sucks for me. I'm hoping I can fix the issue later but 5 GB UPDATE!? That's crazy! I mean, I just want to connect to the wi-fi so that when the patch for sonic and all stars racing transformed comes out, the game won't glitch once I buy it.

Bluey5 : And try checking Radio Shack. I was going to get my Wii U from Canada through my uncle and he was able to reserve one at Radio Shack since not too many people go there. As for nintendo land, I'm not sure.

SO EXCITED!!! Just bought my black Wii U 32gb!
I bought a fair few games as well to be honest!
Assassin's Creed 3
Call of Duty Black Ops II
Batman Arkham City Armoured Edition
and finally,
Zombie U
Going to start off with Zombie U because I've been informed that this is the game that delivers on immersing the player in the full features of the console.
First Impressions
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
Very slick looking machine, on a par with PS3 in terms of ergonomics and aesthetics.
But on setting it up I notice that the touch screen on the remote is fairly unresponsive even with a stylus which is obviously annoying.
Hopefully it just gets used to it.
Anyway guys, I'll let you know how it all goes!!!!
Happy December!!!

Have fun man!
