I have read quite a lot of books in my life and I'm only nineteen I can say that with confidence. Not the age but how many books I've read, or reading at the moment. I have a tendency to drop them and pick up another ha. Growing up we didn't have money for video games, it was either troop down to the library and swipe my card for one hour of blissful gaming on the public computer, or read a book. I loved them since I can remember they enrich your mind, also they improve your brain in so many ways, your vocabulary and grammar is increased by a thousand-fold if you avidly read. Plus it is better than sitting in front of a television just letting the motion picture scroll by senselessly without even really thinking till the end of the movie. A book for me is like a movie, I can read it and get the same enjoyment as watching a high definition T.V or even more. I can recall the first book I ever read and it was The Hobbit. Everyone loves and knows about that book so there is no need to go into but lets just say that's were the seeds were planted for many more page turning, riveting moments all in the space of my own room.
I was really picky when it came to choosing epic fantasy series because of how big of a commitment it causes, but after Lord of the Rings I was hooked and I even lowered my standards a bit. By doing that I figured out that I need to give books/authors more of a chance. That's how I got introduced too the Wheel of Time series and I can say that I like it even more than the Lord of the Rigs series. It's like it in some ways, how it spans across many different sect, tribes/political systems. There is also a singular evil that all the other dark sides of the series focuses around called The Dark One. Sounds familar right? The heroes are a lot more likable than a hairy footed little person that's for sure. It's more like the Heroes of the story are Gandalf and friends, instead of the Hobbits. The Heroes in Lord of the Rings are more of supporting roles and not the actual main story line for the exception of the forgotten heir to the throne. Which there is also in W.O.T! His name is Lan and he is the Warder to the Aes Sedai, Moraine.
This brings me to the explanation of who the Aes Sedai are, I gave it a lot of thought and the best way to describe them are like Jedi who are a lot more cool and composed without the light sabers of course. That is why they have Warders! They let them do all the heavy work. Aes Sedai are bound by The Oath Rod which makes them Speak no Lies. Never Use the Power Against Humankind. To Fight The Darkness Until Death. They all reside in the White Tower and is controlled by Mother, The Amirlyn Seat.
It starts out in a small town with three friends who become the Tavern of the world. The threads of reality tear apart and morph around them to accommodation and fulfill The Dragon Prophecy. Rand al Thor is the Dragon Reborn ad he dosen't even know it. Well that is all I'm going to release about the series did I mention it's a 10+ book series with 600 pages on average? It's a amazing read and I hope I interested you enough to start it. I ha.e nothing but praise so far, it's made for girls and guys! Both genders can appreciate it.
It's sad too say that Robert Jordan passed away but his work was carried on with a outline that he wrote when he was even so sick he couldn't get out of bed pretty amazing right?? I have nothing but love for the author and he has Brandon Salazar carrying on his work. Please give it a chance I know you'll love it, if you don't then give it a shot for the first hundred pages you might not know what you are getting into until the next couple chapters.
