Simply tell me what it is, the reason for your choice (Graphics, game feel, characters, story) and list some examples or favorite parts of the game (Optional) Have fun and please don't say anything about other peoples post unless it is positive. I think that the Golden Age of gaming took place in The SNES era, and my favorite game for it would have to be Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. The game had vastly improved graphics from the original one, tons of cool new mechanics, enemies, super awesome unique level design, and awesome music and bosses, God I love this game...

darthyoda : I actually recently bought that game on Virtual Console for Wii! The puzzles and level design is pretty much the best SNES had to offer!

I guess Super Mario World would be my favorite SNES game when I was growing up. However, I didn't have a lot of SNES games back then and I've played most of the famous SNES titles long after the SNES's era was over. I'd have to say Super Mario RPG would be my favorite now - It's MARIO, and he's in an RPG! AWESOME!

I have three hope you don't mind me talking about all of them.

Super Metroid I loved that game even though I got really frustrated with it at times because of my patience level in my youth. The boss battles and how they threw in the upgrades for her suit continually kept me interested. The part I liked the most was fighting RIdley and Kraid that made for some really intense gameplay at a young age. I never really gave up on the game put sort of pushed it to the back of the line and never really appreciated it until I grew up a little more.

Star Fox This game was amazing and my first game that I rented. After renting it I bought it of course I just felt like a pilot in my room, a special feeling came over me when I threw the cartridge in and it never really went away. Then I got introduced to Star Fox Adventures and I saw a new side of the game. That was cool to be able to link the two games together.

Killer Instinct This is and will be the only fighting game that I like. I tried Mortal Kombat and other games throughout my life and I never really was ever skilled at these sort of games. I don't know it was because I played it with friends a lot or the character selection but I'm pretty well rounded at it. The level interaction is decent so that made for a satisfying play when I could throw somebody out of the window in the skyscraper level. Still to this day I can bring it up and my friends remember playing it with me or that they owned it themselves. I liked this game so much that I even made a costume, or at least attempted to make a costume of one of the characters for Harvest day.

There are several, but these are my alltime favourites :

1. Super Street Fighter II = Best fighting Game and so much fun. My older Brother freaked out when i kicked his butt !
2. Donkey Kong Country 1 - 3 = Amazing graphic and gameplay
3. Super Mario Kart = Guess why ? It was just awesome !!! Big fun playing in 2 player vs. Mode
4. International Superstar Soccer Deluxe = In my opinion the best soccer game for SNES with cool cheat mode and very addicting !
5. Super Mario World = All the levels, Yoshi, Flying Cape etc.

I think I love them all because of the good childhood memories, rather than Graphics / Story etc.

I have two. Earthbound and Zelda: A Link To The Past. I cannot choose between the two as I have several copies of both and have played them both through many many times!

shadowofthewolf : You mean the NES one? I appreciate your answer, but this thread is about SNES games. Unless, of course, you mean Link To The Past, which did have an amazing story.

The Final Fantasies II and III are up there but my top pick is a tie between NHL 94 and Zelda: Link to the Past.  It was revolutionary and wonderful with music, storytelling, bosses, skills, and graphics.

It blew my mind.

Also, a late runner up was Act Raiser.

My favorite SNES game is Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past.

It's an awesome game, and the only SNES game I had except for Yoshi's Island 2, which is among my favorite games as well.
