There's a site called iSideWith.com which gives you and assessment of your political views and compares them with the candidates running to tell you who you most agree with. It even breaks down areas you agree and disagree (economy, social issues, foreign policy, etc...) so you can see how your personal views/beliefs align with that of the presidential candidates. The results may surprise you. I had a friend who thought for sure that he agreed most with Obama. While he agreed with Obama 77%, there was another candidate that came up 78%.

Try it out and share who you got and if you agree with the results.

Oddly enough, it says I side 84% with typical views of the Democratic party, but only 69% with Obama (and there are 3 people above him). The highest it says for me is Jill Stein (81%). This doesn't surprise me because I usually like the stuff the Green Party candidate says better than the main two parties. My Green Party percentage is 83% too.

I've done this already. A while ago in fact.

So it appears I side most with is also Jill Stein. I also have a high green party percentage.
88% Green
82% Democrat
53% Libertarian
52% Republican

I'm not terribly surprised. I'm very anti-conservative, and I knew the whole time I wouldn't agree with most republicans on anything.

I was 90% for Romney, and only 13% for Obama. The weird thing is, that is about 13% too much for me. I left some blank, because I don't know that much about the Medicare and Medicaid stuff, or much about some of the foreign things. So 90% Romney, 79% Goode, 78% Johnson, and only 13% Obama. But it said I was mostly with him on environment issues, which is not true. I said it's important to drill here, and this is still what I got. Seems somewhat actuate though.

patar4097 : If you click the more info link next to the Obama results, you can see exactly where it says you sided with him on... like the specific issues. That may offer a better explanation.

Sometimes the results are inaccurate though. They read them funny at times. Maybe a site glitch? I said "No" to whether or not I supported ObamaCare, for instance. Jill Stein also answered "No" but it said we disagreed on that issue. Not sure what the deal is there.

Crazy Li : Oh, well I already closed out of it, but I don't care, because I can't vote anyway, and this quiz wouldn't change my mind anyway. Not saying it is, but it's possible that it was made by someone to promote a certain candidates. Pure speculation, haven't checked, not blaming anyone, but in this world, it's possible. Especially for a 3rd party candidate.

patar4097 : I doubt it. It looks like it literally just takes their views, matches them with your views and compares the percentage of how alike they are... like any similar type of quiz. I don't think it's biased especially when they give you the results and details for you to see for yourself why you got what you got.

Crazy Li : I wasn't really thinking so, I was just throwing it out there. It's just weird to say that you are against Obamacare, but you side with Obama.

patar4097 : ObamaCare is just one policy of his, though. It's possible to agree with everything else he stands for but not that for example. That's kinda extreme though... but the point is that each issue has about the same weight (unless you set it to be more/less important). It's basically how much percent you matched. Think of it like a test... if all of what you put are the "right answers" then each candidate's score is how many of those same answers they put and thus got "correct".

I don't NOT side with Obama... but I think ObamaCare is one huge joke. It's the most ridiculous sham of a health care reform I've ever seen. Does that mean I feel that way about all his policies? No.

In the end, I'll probably vote for him because I feel he's got a better chance of doing right by this country than Romney does... but I don't feel he's the best possible candidate for the job. It's just that voting for the person who WOULD be isn't much different than not voting at all the way we have this stupid two party system. Most people don't even know who Jill Stein or Gary Johnson ARE, so their chances at winning even a single electoral vote are pretty much non-existent. It's sad, but that's the reality of it. Unless the election system is drastically reformed, no one but a member of one of the two major parties at the time will ever be elected into office.

Crazy Li : I was just using Obamacare as an example. For instance, I said that we shouldn't drill off shore, and I rated this very important, and it said I sided with him. I get the correct answer, but what this comes down to is, this test shouldn't tell you who to vote for.

Wow that was fun. Thanks Crazy Li for finding that website to share with us. Now to my results...

85% Obama on Economic, Foreign policy, Science, Environment, Social, and Immigration issues. Democrat

85% Jill Stein on Economic, Foreign Policy, Environment, Science, Immigration and Social issues. Green

59% Rocky Anderson on Environmental, Immigration, and Social Issues. Justice

53% Gary Johnson on Healthcare and Immigration Issues. Libertarian

41% Mitt Romney on No Issues. Republican

15% Virgil Goode on No Issues. Constitution

65% New York Voters on Foreign Policy, Economic, Domestic policy, science, healthcare, environmental, immigration, and social issues.

61% American Voters on Foreign Policy, Domestic policy, Science, Healthcare, Environmental, Immigration, and Social Issues

Parties I'll side with...

87% Green, 86% Democrat, 24% Republican, and 24% Libertarian.

Candidates you side with by issue...

Healthcare: Gary Johnson- Libertarian

Science: Barack Obama- Democrat

The Economy: Barack Obama- Democrat

Domestic Policy: Jill Stein- Green

Immigration: Barack Obama- Democrat

Foreign Policy: Barack Obama- Democrat

The Environment: Jill Stein- Green

Social: Barack Obama- Democrat

I would say that I expected to see more Jill Stein since she and Obama were tied. And I'm most surprised that Gary Johnson wasn't ranked higher since Healthcare and Science were the issues that mattered Most to me. Social issues were ranked on the bottom. Not sure what New York State voters mean; could it just be that the website happens to rank my beliefs closest to the State that has the most population who believes in what I do?

patar4097 : It's not trying to tell you who you should vote for... it's just an assessment of who you agree with more. It might be useful for the undecided voters though even if they don't go with the top result, they can get a better idea of where they stand on certain issues and it could help you better make up your mind. I already knew who I was voting for and this site doesn't change my mind, even if I apparently don't agree with that person as much as other candidates. It does make me interested in these other candidates and wish they had a real shot at winning, though.

Oldschool41 : It thinks you live in New York for whatever reason. Mine said Californian voters since that's where I actually live. I agree with 57% of them and 57% of the nation according to the site.

Crazy Li : I know you're not. It just shouldn't be the decision maker. The people should decide themselves, but I guess it could be helpful if they don't know where someone stands on a certain issue.

Well lets try to change the subject to websites pinning down my location (that should be made into another thread) since we are kind of getting off topic a bit.

I'm still surprised that Gary Johnson who the website says I'm most likely to support his version of healthcare platform was ranked lower then Rocky Anderson who the website says I don't have any support for his platform
