Do Walkthroughs posted have no connection to the games they are for? I tried starting on a Walkthrough... I titled it appropriately, checked the Walkthroughs radio button, and entered the proper RGR game ID (I actually got it from the game's page itself, so it has to be correct since the system entered it). After typing about 1.5k on the Walkthrough, I went to Preview to make sure everything was looking okay on formatting.

When I clicked Preview, it rejected my post and kicked me to the Game Discussion main section :|

The redirect script on this board goes so fast, that it's always impossible to read the stupid message it gives you when it rejects posts to know WHY it didn't take it (this is a problem that should be looked into, I think, but that's another topic). I barely caught the glimpse of something about the Newbie Quiz, which is clearly irrelevant. I'm going to assume it just gave me a generic post failed message that had nothing to do with the reason it rejected it.

Because I think outside the box, I am making the leap of logic that the error was using the Walkthroughs section at the same time as entering a game ID. Could this be the case and if so, why? I feel like Walkthroughs have less value if they're unconnected to the games they're for and you can't actually see that there are walkthroughs available for a game when viewing its game page.

As far as I know, walkthroughs are NOT connected to the game pages.

In fact, I may be wrong... but, I think you need to have a staff member link it to the appropriate game. Because some walkthroughs do have links to their respective games.

It's also possible you didn't enter a thread title. Which is something I've done before too. It's agonizing.

I know I'm not above Leggy but... just wanted to throw out there that what you speak of occurred with me once before and it was like a glitch of some sort - it was during a review that I tried to submit. Got an error about needing to complete the Newbie Quiz. Which seemed really funny to me. (As in, strange funny)

So I pasted what I'd written when I tried to submit it and it went through just fine. A possibility is that it is a timing out error of sorts. A glitch.

Definitely not answered by Leggy at least. I absolutely positively entered a thread title. This is always the first thing I do in a new thread.

It could be glitch as Ktanaqui said... but it could be possible that the Walkthroughs aren't supposed to be linked to the games in the first place except for by staff members (I don't understand why that would be the case when Game Discussion and Review pages function normally).

Is there a specific person that should be summoned that might have more insight into this and tell me how the Walkthrough thing really works?

If they truly are not connected, should I summon a local mod when I post the Walkthrough so they can tie it to the game's page? I want to have a clear grasp of what I'm doing before I do this post.

I'm not positive but I think there's a glitch that removes the game ID when you preview the thread. I remember this used to happen when previewing a thread that it would remove the selected sub-forum, but I'm not sure if that's been fixed.

tRIUNE : I don't mind if the preview button just removes the game ID because I can put it back in.

My issue was that when I hit the preview button, it rejected the post entirely... as if I tried actually submitting but did something wrong. All I was trying to do was preview and I lost the post.

Was this the message that you got? This will display when a thread is previewed or posted without a title. If not, it might have been something to do with something in the post that the site's security didn't like. Just a guess.

tRIUNE : I don't know. It literally only stayed up for a half a second before it kicked me to the Game Discussion Forum. It was impossible to read the error message. All I caught was that "If you failed the Newbie Quiz" bit but not the top part. Though like I said before, there was certainly a title in the thread before I clicked Preview. It was the first thing I typed.

If that's what you got the chance to read, then yea - it would be the error message the tRiune posted. I'm curious to know why that message occurs, but I'm pretty sure it's just a glitch. There has been issues with the site lately so it's not surprising to see little stuff like this pop up.

It could very well of been a glitch since you did type in a title for the thread. None of the globals have access to the board's database so only David would know...

Oh well... thanks for the responses. I'll just try it again sometime this weekend once I retype it... and this time I'm saving it in notepad before I post so I don't lose it on preview if it happens again.
