I'm curious as to what you have either witnessed or done to show teachers appreciation.  Even the simplest acts, if you don't realize it, make the biggest differences to teachers.

I'd also like to encourage you all to do something for your teachers if you have not. Then come here and tell us about it!

Aside from being a goodie two shoes and staying out of trouble at school and always sitting directly in front of the teacher's desk, a lot of the times I'd do small chores.

If it was the end of the day in a computer lab/room/library I always shut all of the monitors off, and on the weekends shut the computers off as well (because nobody ever does that).

Sometimes people just don't put their chairs up at the end of the day so I always put mine and any other remaining chairs up as well....

I usually just did small chores like that.

For my history teacher before lunch was over and he had a note, I'd always go over the note and spell check it for him, since he had a bad history of spelling. I mostly did this because I had nothing else to do but I figured why not. Besides, my history teacher was a pretty neat guy. My second favorite teacher ever.

austipokedude : 15 bucks? I don't think I ever had an extra $15 when I was in school >.>

Unfortunately, I don't think I ever really did anything special for teachers. I was a careless child. At best, I was just really friendly.

I usually tried to volunteer to do small, helpful things, like clean up the board or organize paperwork. I didn't try to be a suck-up, I just wanted to be helpful.

I sometimes show my bus drivers that I appreciate them by giving them white chocolate pretzel bark and sometimes it will be plain, others it will be with peppermint chunks or sprinkles. I showed my spanish teacher by giving her my groups extra quesadilla that we made. I'm still not sure if she got it yet.

Mia03 : Awwww, I never thought of that before!  (The thing with the bus drivers, I mean.)  I always had horrible bus drivers, but maybe if they were shown appreciation more often, they wouldn't be so bad.  That's a great idea, Mia!!!

Singelli :    I know how you feel. It was the first two weeks into my freshmen year (I'm a sophomore now) and the bus driver was a jerk and gave me a demerit for not looking when you cross the street, but he never said anything like that like as a tip to keep in mind. So I stopped riding a rode in the car with my brother. He had to change routes because of someone complaining I guess so now I have a new bus driver.

I've had a lot of students do a lot of sweet things lately, and it's really meant a lot to me.  One student bought me a box of mountain dew to keep in my room so that I always have something to drink, and I don't even teacher any more. She just thought of me and wanted to ensure I could quench my thirst.  It was such a sweet thing to do!

One of the sweetest things however, was a student backing me up to his mother.  I was trying to seek special educational help for the child, and it made his mother furious.... who assumed I was insinuating that something was wrong with her child.  She sent me an email in all caps, and I guess the child saw it.  Thirty minutes later, she emailed me back, saying that her child had not been happy with her response to me, and that he truly felt like I was trying to help him.  He told her that he trusted me... that I had his best interests at heart.

I have to say that's the nicest thing a child has done for me.  I still can't believe he chided his mother for that message and assured her that I care.....  *insert warm fuzzy feelings*
