I made this post because I had crispy deep fried french fries with gravy earlier tonight and they were delicious.  While I was eating them I decided to find out how others like their fries.

I grew up always eating fries with ketchup, like most kids.  As I grew up my taste for things changed.  I rarely eat ketchup on anything anymore.  Ketchup makes whatever I'm eating taste like...  ketchup.  I don't like that.  I like to taste the actual food, not smother the flavor with ketchup.  LOL.

I enabled multi-voting because if I don't have gravy I also like eating my fries plain, but salted kind of heavy (so they taste like Mcdonalds fries).  Since I have more than one option everyone else should be allowed to also.

I included the fourth option of "other" because I like learning what other people do with food so I can try it myself if I think it sounds good.

I pretty much drown anything with ketchup...

I tend to dip my fries though. Since I like eating fries with my hands rather than using a fork; but I still pretty much smother them with ketchup. Always have, and apparently always will~

French fries with ranch. Just smother them with it.  If you haven't tried it, you're missing out

I've never tried gravy though.  How interesting!  O.o

I've never understood fries in frosties, but I've tried it and it wasn't BAD.  Just certainly not my choice of 'condiment'. LOL

Call me plain but I just like my Fries with Ketchup. I'll maybe try it with a barbacue sauce or something similar to that nature. But I mostly like my Fries with Ketchup.

I'll use ketchup or BBQ sauce for fries if they're plain or otherwise don't have any real flavor. I like the taste of food too, but fried potatoes don't really have much in the way of flavor.

My favorite fries are seasoned though... like the seasoned curly fries you get at Jack-in-the-Box or Arby's... or what most restaurants I've been to seem to serve (Applebee's, Outback, etc...) these fries are good enough on their own to not need anything to mask their flavor. Condiments would just ruin them at that point.

Also, don't we have a food section for threads like this?

Local Mods : (I hope I did that summoning right... never did this before)

This is true, but it isn't necessary to summon mods for sub-forum edits. These are generally considered a minor issue, and we fix the issue as soon as we see it, so there is no need to summon mods.

Lazlo Falconi : Well the last time I mentioned how I thought something belonged somewhere else, I was told to summon the local mods... now I'm being told not to? @.@

This is why I never did it before. I never knew if I was right in doing so, so I felt it best not to needlessly summon and possibly tick people off. :/

Crazy Li : Haha, actually that's just my canned response to most users, because especially during the Tour de Vizzed, we get a lot of back-seat modding--that is, users posting just to say "This goes somewhere else" when it's unnecessary, and all they really want is post-count plus one.

I don't think that's what you were doing, and from your posts I can see you're smart enough to figure out when a thread is actually in the wrong place, so you can probably just disregard what I said.

But for most users, on the other hand...

Lazlo Falconi :   I always just click the sub-category in general chat for my food related posts.  Even now at the top of this I see:

General Chat -- Food and Drink --- French Fries

But I've had food related posts moved before I think too.  If I'm not in the right spot then I think "Food and Drink" should be removed from the sub-categories in General Chat so there's no more confusion.

I picked both the "ketchup" option and the "other" option. I kind of vary how I eat my french fries because there are so many choices! I typically prefer my fries salted but can suffer without salt. Let's see here:

W/ Ketchup
Definitely the old-time favorite. Salted fries with ketchup are awesome any time of the month, day, week, or night.

W/ Ketchup/Mustard/Mayo mixed
The ever favorite method of making condiments last longer in school. We'd take all three, mix 'em up and dip away. It's got a semi-addicting flavor, in my opinion. And goes wonderful with any kind of fry.

W/ Ranch
For any ranch lovers - this is like heaven. Or at least, all the ranch lovers I know. Fries (especially salted) in ranch gets a nice starch & ranch fix any day.

W/ Chocolate Shake/Frosty
The old favorite that you either love or hate. Or never tried and think it's disgusting. This is by far my favorite "condiment" and tastes best when the fries are salted. My opinion, anyhow.

I really should have added bbq sauce to the options.  I don't know why I didn't think of that when I was making this because I even use it sometimes for my fries.

I like fries with ketchup but I usually just forego it and eat them plain if that's my only option.

However, if I get to spoil myself and get something fun to dip my fries in, I usually go with nacho cheese, chili, or some sort of shake. I used to dip my fries in mayo but I don't think I could anymore, it just feels way too heavy and gross. There was also a time when I would use ranch because I'm a major sauce person and I liked to slather ranch on everything, but thinking of doing that now kind of grosses me out, as well.

This thread has inspired me to try gravy fries though. That sounds ridiculously good.

I think French Fries (In the UK we call them Chips) taste best with Ketchup because Ketchup is an all time classic favourite and it tastes awesome especially if you were in a Fast Food Restaurant.

iplaytoph :  I've never thought of using barbecue sauce, but now that you mention it, that actually sounds absolutely fantastic!

I'm still curious about the gravy option though. What kind of gravy do some people use with their fries?  I've never seen it or heard of it.

I can't believe I forgot bbq sauce AND cheese fries.  I have to learn to think these things through before I post them.  It kind of ruins the poll for me in a way since I left out such popular options.  At least I put "other" as an option to vote for though.

It really depends on what I feel like using or having with my french fries. It also depends on how the fries are prepared and cooked. If the fries are just lightly salted, I will usually either eat them without anything extra or just a small amount of ketchup. Now if say, I get the criss cut style fries you get at Carl's Jr, sometimes I get them at the store, I'll eat them with ranch dressing. Sounds gross, I know. But it actually tastes good with those kind of seasoned fries.

I will eat regular fries with chili and cheese, but that's very rare I do that. I tend to try to eat fresh cut home made fries, because it's a little more healthier than getting the pre-cut frozen kind or fast food french fries. So I can season them in different ways, save money and eat them with almost anything.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
