This month's competition is for Tecmo Super Bowl 2K13 for the Nintendo. You can play it here:

In this competition your goal is to beat any team using any team by as many points as possible. So if you win 30 - 17, your score would be 13.


RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of your top score from that by pressing F6. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where the highscores appear, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Highscore', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Score' to submit your score.

TIP: Go to options and adjust the quarters to 8 minute quarters to achieve the highest score.

I'm not really a fan of football (more like handegg if you ask me) at all, but I do wanna try one of these high score competition thingies, so I might give this a try. If you picked a baseball game, I'd have definitely been in >.>

Edit: well I gave it a shot and managed to win the game 46-17. I've never played Tecmo before so I'm not sure if that's good or not. There is one problem though... even though I played in "Compete for high score" mode and even though I hit F6 in the game when it showed the final score... when I went to retrieve the score, it acted as if there was nothing ever submitted. I wasn't able to submit what I did. Does that mean what I did is completely lost? Am I even capable of submitting high scores for games? (never did it before)

Davideo7: any ideas on what lead to my failure?

Also, how do these sorts of contests work? Even if I did successfully submit the score I got just now... what if I played again and bested it? Am I stuck with my first attempt or can I improve upon it?

Either way, I guess it doesn't matter since the system says I have no score :/

David no will be able to retrieve any screenshots for this game because of the apostrophe in the title. It prevents them from uploading to the site.

So I guess this contest is no good then? Though it's funny that the emulator tells you the upload was successful (I've seen other games that actually say upload failed).

He'll probably need to find a replacement game or something. I vote for a baseball game :o like RBI or Baseball Stars

Alternatively, the apostrophe can just be removed from the file name so screenshots will work going forward.

Crazy Li : To answer your other question, if (for a game that works) you submit your score as a high score, you are not stuck with it. You can play it again, take another screenshot, and then update your previous score as many times as you'd like.

Fixed, you should all be able to submit screenshots to this game now.

Awesome. Now that you did that, my screenshot is available, so I submitted. I'll try to beat it later. I just wanted something down so I can say I tried. Maybe if I'm bored enough, I'll try and actually learn how to play the game :p

Davideo7 : What if two users have the same score ?? 

iSPY! : Usually, ties go to the person who took the least amount of time to obtain that score... though I'm not sure if that method can fairly be used in a sports game.

Well, looks like this was my Highscore competition, I got the maximum score first, and upside down!SPY! got a maximum score after me, I think that if someone else gets the maximum score for this game and it's fair, I would ask to David to finish this month's competiton sooner, because it is kind of pointless for other people to compete if it's impossible to win at least the 3rd place.

I'm amazed that anyone could score 99 points in such a short game... you pretty much have to score on 1 play every single position (and probably on a long bomb pass) plus make sure the AI never completes a single pass or get anywhere on runs to make this possible. Even a 3-and-out takes some time off the clock... a quick pick or fumble (especially when returned for a TD) might make it more doable.

I just can't see how anyone could score that much so quickly and not let the AI get anything off. I didn't think the AI was THAT easy to beat up on. Then again, I suck at the game, so what do I know?

Seishiro Leonhart : Someone else could still get first place on the competition if they get 99 points quicker than you did (meaning in less than 24 mins and 52 seconds), so there is no need to close the competition early.

Not that I plan on trying to do so, as I only vaguely know the rules of football, and I would probably fail miserably at the game.

madison : Hehe... that's kinda how I felt... but I gave it a try anyway... and last I checked, have the lowest score of anyone who tried xp

Maybe I'll practice on the side to see if I can sneak in a 3rd place score (assuming that isn't also 99... because there's no way I'm ever getting 99).

iSPY! : The tie goes to the user who did it in a shorter amount of time, that's usually the fairest way to break a tie, especially in this game where having more quarters give you an advantage (definitely not against the rules though).

David? You said to extend the time to 8 quarters for the best score but the game only allows up to 7 quarters to be played

Well, I must say, no way am I going to even try to win this competition... Don't know what the heck I'm doing. Keep getting points score on me instead rather than actually score a point.



Not a sports person in real life; apparently just as useless in sports in video games too.

theweapon2 : He probably made a mistake. The point was that you have more time to score points, the longer the quarter length is, so jack it up to the max for best results. Of course, if you use lower quarter time and can still score 99-0... you would surely capture first place, considering the people who did it so far most likely did it on 7 minute quarters.

It looks like people are still  trying to win this month's high score competition.

I will be willing to tell whoever asks me how I got that score so fast, but I'll only tell when the month is over, I'm not willing to lose another high score competition.
