I don't like the stage itself really, I do like the music in the stage however. Even though the stage is annoying, I really like listening to the stage theme while clearing the acts.

You mean this music? The stage theme is catchy, but so is a lot of Sonic music. The stage itself isn't the WORST stage they had... but certainly not the best either. I'm maybe one of the rare breed that doesn't mind water stages in games... maybe because I really like water. The most annoying part of this stage to me isn't even water related... it's that one part where... well, this area:

I hate that zone. Act 1 is hard to navigate, but if that's not enough... You might blame me for sucking at Labyrinth Zone, but act 3's boss is the infernal hell. I am not kidding, that boss is impossible and kept me from every beating the game. The other parts of the game, I can beat. It's almost as hard as Ghosts n' Goblins on the NES. I only got to the boss once in act 3, but accidently got hit by those damn narrow spears and the water rised too fast so I died. That moment is where I am facing hell, but I always lose. I spent months beating the one act and never won. Got to the boss JUST once. Sega is so damn strict with a great game and make it challenging so millions of people can't beat Labyrinth Zone.

Stevie 764 : You have to really be fast to fight that boss. It's certainly not the easiest thing in the world, but certainly doable. I actually went back to all the Genesis Sonic games last year and beat them all just so I could say that I did. It didn't seem nearly as hard as it did when I was a kid.

Sonic 2 was at least easier to play though... except for Death Egg. That one always used to get me because you have no rings the entire stage, so it's basically a 1-hit kill situation and it's REALLY hard to react to what Metal Sonic is doing. I found it near impossible to always avoid his attacks and still hit him all 6 or 8 or whatever times to defeat him. You just had to get lucky.

The rest of the game is just practice, practice, practice. After enough playing, you can likely get all the way through to Death Egg on a single Continue. I don't think I even lose lives in that game unless I make a stupid mistake.

I don't mind Labyrinth Zone that much as it gives players a great challenge which is good considering it is technically beginning the second half of the game and the music is catchy, especially the remix of it called "Bubble Junkie". I don't hate it, but I don't love it to death, just like it.

Labyrinth Zone was an evil level that tortured you until you cracked under the pressure, and one thing that made me hate the level was that it was a WATER LEVEL. I hate the zone, its the most poorly designed zone in the game. I didn't care for the music, and what probably made me hate it was the fact that it had WATER. Water zones in Sonic games don't work out very well, they slow down the pace of the game.

To me, it is torture. I am not very good at the game anyway, and that is when it starts to get more difficult. usually when i get game over it is in that zone.

Labyrinth Zone is probably my favorite zone in the first game, as weird as that may sound. It's hard, but the good kind of hard that makes me want to keep going. And it has awesome music, when it's not being interrupted by the sound of you almost suffocating.
