Purpose: To lose some weight and to cleanse body of toxins.

The Kit I'm doing: It's called 'Ultimate Fasting Cleanse' and goes for about $35 on Amazon

Benefits of Fasting or a Detox Diet:
-Lose weight
-Remove toxins from body that have been building up since you were born (or since last detox)
-Increased mental clarity, energy, focus and sense of wellbeing
-Dramatically Improved health and digestive function
-Reduce overall food cravings and over eating

Notes: I basically plan to post daily of the progress of this 5 day diet. I basically go 5 days without eating and the only thing I can drink is water or unsweetened (caffeine free) tea. The kit I have has me take about 20 pills 3 times a day (15 of those pills being pretty small but the others are pretty large). The pills include Appetite Control, Colon Clear, Fiber Fortification, Liver Clear and Super Nutrition.

I've read a lot of stories about how great it is to do one of these and I'm doing it for all the benefits but the main one is that I just feel the need to lose some weight and with this kit it's permanent weight. I know this is going to be very tough and I'm intentionally doing this for a few days that I don't have a lot going on and where I can spend a lot of the time doing stuff that'll take my mind off it such as playing some video games.

Any questions? Please post them all in this thread, this thread will remain open even after I'm done with the diet.

Night Before

I actually ate a quite a bit of food the night before and probably shouldn't have, it said to eat mostly fruits and vegetables 2 days before the diet but since I don't like veggies, I didn't follow that guide. No big deal, just means it'll be harder to follow the diet. I did eat some fruit though the night before.

Weight: 193 pounds
Height: 6 foot, 1 inch
Note: Though I do want to lose weight, a lot of my weight gain has been due to muscle increase from my 2 1/2 hour workouts each week that I've been doing for the past few months now. But I do have a slight gut that I'd like to get rid of and eventually convert into a 6 pack.

I hope that it works for you. Hell, I might even try it if it does. Trust me, comparatively you have nothing to complain about weight-wise.

Detox Diet Day 1

Weight: 190

Before I started the Diet this morning, I had a healthy energy drink because I figured I’d be pretty fatigued by the end of the day without any food or drinks (besides water). The hunger control pills have done a good job so far from keeping me from feeling hungry and it’s been 24 hours since I last ate, though there are a lot of foods that I crave right now.

I haven’t felt any side effects yet. The worst part of the day was drinking the fiber drink that you make with the mix the kit comes with, the stuff is grainy and thick and probably one of the worst things I’ve ever had to drink (but not nearly as bad as Kava) and ironically on the bottle it says "Delicious & Easy To Drink" ... they can't be serious, that couldn't possibly be further from the truth. I know I’m going to be having troubles drinking that stuff down in later days because it’s really hard to get it blended properly when you mix it with the water and it seems like no matter what, to much of the fiber floats at the top and also sinks at the bottom. I could mix it with a bigger cup of water but I also like to get it down as fast as I can, and I usually swallow the pills with it (well not the 15 small ones).

Here is a break down of everything you take from the kit in a day:
Super Nutrition (mini tablets) – 45 a day (15 three times a day)
Colon Clear – 3 a day (1 at morning and 2 at night)
Liver Clear – 5 a day (1 at morning, 2 mid day, 2 at night)
Appetite Control – 6 a day (2 three times a day)
Fiber Fortification – 1 cup of water w/tablespoon of this 3 times a day

I will go into more details what exactly each does on a later day. Also want to point out that my energy levels haven’t been bad today, less than normal but not to bad yet. It's about time for sleep now and I should have no troubles sleeping but I will report on that tomorrow night in my 2nd entry.

well, good on you for trying to do things to keep yourself healthy. It's smart to do what you can to stay healthy and prevent disease.

Now, the real question is once this is over are you going to make permanent lifestyle changes to continue a healthy lifestyle? Or are you already pretty healthy in general?

I'm not trying to rain on your parade or anything but diets and cleanses are only good if you change your behaviour after they are over. You can cleanse all you want but if you just keep eating junk then you're fighting a losing battle.

That's not all directed at you David. It's partially for other people on the board who might read this.

I'm a semi healthy eater in my opinion, sure I don't eat veggies (though I sometimes drink veggie drinks) but you can still be healthy and not eat those things. For example, I try to keep most junk food out of my diet, I don't drink, smoke, do marijuana or do any other drugs (actually never have), I've been slowly eliminating soda-pop out of my diet and replacing that with healthy energy drinks and vitamin waters, when I eat cereal it's usually the really healthy cereal and I've also been eating more healthy meats and more fruits as well. I also occasionally eat Power Bars and drink similar drinks when I work out...Oh yeah, and probably the most important thing I do is work out, it's hard to be healthy if your lazy and don't do anything physical.

I will still sometimes eat things that I shouldn't but that's almost impossible for anyone to avoid. But either way, with this diet, I will have lost a good amount of permanent weight and also will have released toxins from my body and overall health will increase no matter what (even if in time it might go down).

That's kinda how I feel.... starving yourself is hardly ever a good idea, even if you're taking pills that kill your appetite...

To each his own, I'm not trying to tell you what to do... ;

As much as you may like to think it Geeogree, I was never a "fatty" just wanted to lose some weight so I'm ready to go running this spring. Doing a detox like this is considered good for your system but 5 days is unecessary, I read that to completely detoxify your body it only takes 2-3 days.

But anyway, I made it to the end of the 2nd day and the stuff I had to drink with this specific kit sorta made me puke so I figured I'd give up because if I wasn't able to get myself to drink that stuff than why bother. Either way though I did go 2 days and my appetite afterward was smaller and I did have an increase in energy. I might try another one though one of these days.
