I just made 2 updates:


MAME Game Names Shorten in Search Results
The name of the MAME games have been shortened. Actually, anything within brackets no longer displays on the search results for MAME games (but the info within brackets can still be searched for).

In other words, this game:
Donkey Kong (US set 1)
Will appear like this in search results:
Donkey Kong

The reason for doing this is because the stuff in brackets can be pretty big sometimes and most of the time it's going to be useless info that the end user doesn't care about. Plus it makes things look neater because a lot of MAME games have extra info in brackets and it looks messy.


Cloned Games Removed from Search Results
Clone games will no longer appear in the search engine results. Instead, they can be found on the game page that they're a clone of. Also I've made a note letting the user know that they have to play the game that the clone is of first before the clone will work since cloned games need those files to have been downloaded.

All clone games must be assigned to the game its a clone of and also deactivated. To do this, you need to get the file name of the game that its a clone of and insert it on the edit page of the clone game. You also have to remember to deactivate the cloned game.

The ultimate reason for me doing this is because there's a lot of clones and most of them don't change much, so I figured it was pointless flooding the search results with meaningless games. Although there are some clones worth keeping, which is why I think the route I've taken was the best route.

The best version of each game is usually the game that the clones are based on and that's the version that most users want to play.

Also, If you don't mind, I'll make some suggestions:

Pause Button: I noticed that the games doesn't have one... I know Arcade games doesn't have this, but since MAME has one, I think It would be a nice idea adding one.

Keys: The Save State key is the same key assigned to activate the Service mode of the games, I think that could confuse some of the users... It would be worth change the assigned key for one of those options.

Eddy88 : It's not possible to change those things without releasing another plugin. I wish someone would have made these suggestions while the plugin was still in Beta stage because these things probably wont get fixed for a long time.

naruto420 : You'll have to change the button that opens the Service mode menu of the game.

Press "ESC" and then select "Input" (with the Keys and Enter), then search a part of the menu that says "Service Mode". Assign to that a key that you barely press, and done, You'll be able to save with F2.
