I notice lots of people asking "When will Vizzed have Playstation 1 and 2, Nintendo DS etc?", when I had a thought.

I know that for David to add these video games to the RGR would cost some good money, but I would like to know: For how much money exactly (or almost) in donations would be required to David add these video games to the RGR?

Money isn't remotely the only reason why. Even if he had the money to get those into the plugin, it is only partly the problem. The server does not have a bandwidth capable of streaming that much information without crashing. If 2-3 people played disc games at the same time, it would suck up all the bandwidth, cause the site to be unbearably slow, and constantly crash the whole server. Just having a server with the capabilities of streaming that much data would be a small fortune in monthly expenses. I don't know the amount it would cost, but the monthly costs would be insanely high. It isn't a matter of paying Tom to get it on the plugin and that means no more cost. 

Also, there are legal issues. Sony is very anal about their stuff on other sites. Even their retro systems. They have a bit of a reputation of keeping an eye out for their copyrighted games being anywhere and getting taking them off (even suing). So playstation any number is out. And I don't know why Nintendo DS is even in question here. Those are still in production, it would cut into Nintendo's profits, piss them off, and Vizzed really would be done. Besides, I don't even think there is a working emulator for a DS.

rcarter2 : Actually, there's a DS Emulator... It's called "No$GBA" or something like that... It emulates GBA and DS games. 

So, yeah... Bandwidth is the main problem here, Seishiro... Many people playing CD games could crash the server, so it isn't possible.

Eddy88 : Bandwidth would be a problem but he could make it for elite+ only and reduce server strain. A lot of elites are in both the forums and the RGR so if he decides to do this it could work. Although the chances are pretty slim of this happening.

megamanmaniac : Yup... Pretty slim chances. Mainly because of Legal issues.

megamanmaniac : That would fix nothing. Like I said, all it would take is just a few people playing games that size at once for it to crash the server. When you take how many elites, mods, and RGR staff there are, quite a few people would be able to play them. And given that maybe 5 people playing at once could crash the server, limiting it to elites and up doesn't do anything.
