I've been reading a lot of places that people are beginning to think Nintendo is over-milking the Mario cow, and they are making too many games starring him. I will say that they did in 2004-2005, with the Dance Dance Mario Mix and the Yoshi Topsy-Turvy and a few other completely unnecessary titles, but recently, we haven't been getting nearly as many titles from him. In 2004 Mario had 20 titles. In 2011, he got only 5. In my opinion, the fact hat we're getting more mainstream titles in a year than spin-offs is great, but I feel like the announcement of a new Mario game isn't as special as it was before. Playing them is still great, but i feel like they're releasing the mainstream games a little too quickly, and it makes me worry that they don't put as much effort into them as they should. Super Mario 3D Land felt like something was missing once I 100%-ed it, so I'm honestley hoping that New Super Mario Bros. 2 and U don't leave that impression on me, and that in lat 2013 or mid-2014 we get a truly innovative Super Mario HD title. What is your opinion on this?

No I love all of the Mario games! When it come to Mario games the more the better! They are all so good. Besides they still have not made a game staring all of the Mario princess. I wont be fully happy until they do.

I think Nintendo is over-doing the Mario franchise with the new 2D sub-series because Nintendo just announced New Super Mario Bros 2 to be released for the 3DS in August 2012 and I think it's just Super Mario Bros 3 but with different levels and improved graphics.

Yeah, with the 2D Mario series. New Super Mario Bros. 2. Seriously, Nintendo? Then comes New Super Mario U, and an advanced version of NSMB 2 hits the Wii U.

Edit: Sorry for making the wrong vote (I voted OH HECK YES)

Yes I think so after all you can have too much of a god thing I liked the majority but now it has just become a huge money making thing as Mario and sonic at the Olympics was an ok game but then u had the winter Olympics and I didn't enjoy that one at all and paper Mario and then the talk about the remake of Mario 64 and the countless spin off games I just think it has become to much of a gimmick now and has no real integrity

I don't mind as long as all of the games have something new or exciting to offer. The more directions the series takes the more people Mario can appeal to, that's why there are so many spin off games, so that people who don't like platforming games can still get into the series.
