Nintendo Game Boy, the first ever handheld game console, has been a blast over the years, after all the remakes, everyone kinda got bored about the original Game Boy. So on September 27, 2003 (The same day Nintendo axed SNES & NES worldwide) Nintendo discontinued the Game Boy. The best version they had of the Game Boy back in 2003 was the Game Boy Advance SP (d. 2008)

Blobbie244 : I'm not really sure what this is supposed to be. Of course the gameboy is outdated, it came out in 1989 (23 years ago) For it's time, it's a pretty sweet system. Also, I wouldn't include the Gamboy Advance as a remake of the original. I would stick to Gameboy Color and different versions of the original hardware.

Also, I don't get why you put this in the thread that you did. Why wouldn't you put this in a a gaming thread? Is this a review, or a rant? Either way, in the future it would be better if you put more effort into making a clear concise thread if you are going to bother making one.

Anyway, now for a history lesson. The Game Boy was not the first hand held console ever made, nor was it even the best at the time. The first ever hand held gaming system. Of course there were those Game and Watch games and the American counterparts like Football, but even if you only count game systems with interchangeable cartridges, then that would be the Milton Bradely Microvision.

Also, if you want to not consider the GBA as a Game Boy, then you can't consider the Game Boy Color as a Game Boy either, because, although backwards compatible, it has a completely different processor.

I still loved playing my game boy, the outdated black and white graphics never bother me although I do miss having sound not composed of a lot of bleeps and bloops. I know that's a hardware limitation but I guess I've fallen in love the new music in games. Other than that I still love playing the game boy even if it is outdated

I think the Game Boy Micro was the last best Gameboy. They all have their place though. I have a GBA and a Micro...I wish I had an SP. The SP was brilliant too, but it doesn't have a headphone jack. They've all got their quirks so it helps to have a few different versions. I collect GBA games and to me it's never going to be "outdated." It's really just an old technology. But that is great. You get a certain experience from it. I want to get all the gameboys one day. One day it will be hard to find old games like the ones on gameboy and it will be a real treasure to own them.

I remember wanting to take it everywhere I went and now, It's gone. I got a DS for my birthday when I was 7 and I had fun with it for a little while and then I started to play games on game consoles way more often. In fact I literally abandoned that thing. I wish I had some kind of Gameboy I would be back on playing portable games more often.

What gave it away? the fact that no new game systems had Game Boy in them or the fact that nobody makes games for them anymore? Game Boys value has decreased greatly since the first dsi didn't include room for a gba cartridge
